Congratulations!
The first annual TMC Get Moving Tucson at the Biosphere is in the books -- we're thrilled that over 900 of you signed up for this special event, making it the largest regional race in a long time!
Below are some photos plus a full race report on Speedsters, Sponsors, Beneficiaries, and Volunteers -- and a race discount. But first, 5 quick items:
1) Goodie Pickup: If you haven't yet picked up your race souvenirs, visit The Running Shop through November 15th and snag your shirt and medal on a first-come, first-served basis, at 3055 North Campbell during regular business hours.
2) Photos and Social Media: Once the thousands of photos get put together, we'll send additional information, but for now . . .
-
For social media, please tag @runtucson and @runsar and @rrca and @biosphere2 with any instagram posts -- you can use hashtags #TMCGetMovingBiosphere or #gabezimmermantriplecrown or #runsar and #runtucson or #howmanyhillsareonthiscourse or anything else you want . . .
Thanks to Greg Wenneborg at Roadrunner Race Timing -- Greg also posts videos of every finisher, so follow the link to watch your finish video. You're welcome to screenshot the image as you wish!
4) Virtual: If you could not make it in person, click here to post your results. Out of Town Crown: We'll be shipping the race schwag to the 8 out-of-town crown folks this week!
5) Beneficiaries: Thanks to your support plus funding from TMC and COX, we provided $3,000 to Team Hoyt, $5,000 to Step up to Justice, almost $2,000 to the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, and over $3,000 to the Biosphere 2. Now that we've completed the Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown, BEYOND-Tucson will receive $4,000.
OK, that's enough. The full race report is below . . .

TMC Get Moving Tucson 15k: The hilly course didn't seem to bother Harry Mulenga, who won his fifth race in a row, easily cruising to victory in a time of 49:52. Second place male went to Tucson's Jose Delgado in 56:27, holding off Bill Clem in third in 56:46. First place in the men's master's division was Brian Leroy in 59:45.
Lisa Zieman took first place in the women's division, in a chip time of 1:00:23. Caroline Mosely snagged runner-up honors in 1:02:18, while third place female went to Claire Hans in 1:05:46. First place in the women's master's was Marjanna Margana in 1:12:22.
We at Run Tucson are committed to honoring the spirit of racing, and we're grateful to TMC for helping us provide over $800 in prize money and to The Running Shop for providing close to $2,000 in age-group gift cards.

A note on the courses and timing: The courses were not certified distances -- we think the 5k was closer to 3 miles, but we're reasonably confident that the 15k was 9.3 miles. Cash awards were based on so-called "gun-time," when the starter's pistol was fired and the race began. Age-group awards were based on so-called "chip-time," which is the elapsed time from when the athlete crosses the starting line to when they crossed the finish line. This method has become the norm in community races around the nation -- and even more so given wave starts caused by public health concerns. Special thanks to Greg Wenneborg from Roadrunner Race Timing.
