Congratulations!

The 2025 TMC Tucson 10k and 5k is in the books!

We'll post updated news at www.runtucson.net, but below is the first draft race report.

Thank you: It was great to see so many happy, smiling faces -- thank you all for being part of our awesome running community here in Southern Arizona. This event helped raise funds for the BEYOND-Tucson Foundation and the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, our local non-profit running club.

As a special "thank you" for doing the race and for reading the race report, way below are $10 off coupon codes for two of our upcoming events...

Goodie Pickup: We hope you liked the race shirt and race medals. We know that we ran out of medals -- we feel terrible about that and we've written to a few of you to explain that we can't get any more, but if you have any questions, please contact Randy at randy@runtucson.net. If you haven't yet picked up your shirt, come to The Running Shop through the end of September and snag your shirt on a first-come, first-served basis, at 3055 North Campbell during regular business hours. At this writing, there are about 20 shirts remaining, mostly in women's small and medium, with a couple of men's larger sizes remaining.

Results and Awards: Check the link to the SAR race results page here for updated race results. If you earned an age-group award that you haven't yet received, gift cards will be at The Running Shop for another few weeks, so swing by 3055 North Campbell to pick up your award.

Thanks to DJ Clint on the right and Ross Zimmerman on the left!\

Photos: Thanks to Long Realty's Damion Alexander for race photos and video. We'll be back with some super-cool drone footage in a future email!

Damion's photos can be found at his smugmug account here. If you want to purchase an image, follow the links!

Check out his race video here!

Next Up: Our friends at the Southern Arizona Roadrunners have two more races this month, the Sabino Canyon One Mile FitKidz Classic on September 27th, free for all children 12-and-under, and the September 28th Jim Click's Run n' Roll, a 5k on the UofA campus supporting the UofA adaptive athletics program. See www.runsar.org for details.

Finally, if you want to unsubscribe from future Run Tucson emails, follow the link at the bottom of this email to take yourself off all future emails.

Thanks all,

Randy and Tia, and the crew at Run Tucson

Speedsters and Results

You can see results on the SAR page here and on the Roadrunner Race Timing page here.

TMC Tucson 10k: Continuing his recent string of top finishes in local races, Jose Delgado (far right above) took top honors overall in 33:31, which was almost a full minute faster than last year. 42-year-old Jose runs for the Workout Group and is an assistant coach for local high school cross country team, Salpointe. He is on a tear, having won the TMC Saguaro National Park Labor Day 8-Miler just 6 days ago.

Second place in the men's race went to Phoenix's Manuel Diaz in 33:57, while third went to Neil Lenneman in an excellent time of 35:14

The women's race saw Jory Galles (photo above) take first place in 36:53. Jory's training partner Nicole Pierce took second in 39:51 while third place saw Whitney Penney cross the line in 39:58. All three top women run for the Run Tucson Northwest Workout Group team.

We at Run Tucson are committed to honoring the spirit of racing, and we're grateful to TMC Health for helping us provide prize money and to The Running Shop for providing close to $1,000 in age-group gift cards.

If you have any questions about the results you can write to the race director at randy@runtucson.net or to Greg directly at greg@roadrunnerracetiming.com.

The cash awards were based on so-called "gun-time," when the starter's pistol was fired and the race began. Age-group awards were based on so-called "chip-time," which is the elapsed time from when the athlete crosses the starting line to when they crossed the finish line.

TMC Tucson 10k is Run Tucson event partnered with our friends at the Southern Arizona Roadrunners, one of the premier non-profit running clubs in the nation. If you're interested in engaging more with SAR, please see www.runsar.org and email them here.

Thank you volunteers!

Special thanks to all those who helped produce this event, including . . .

  • We can't thank enough the SAR Board members who spent hours on race morning and Zach the lead bike rider who zipped around the course!
  • As always, the Workout Group came out in force -- thanks to the WOG community for pitching in so often and with such passion.
  • Also as always, Greg Wenneborg did a great job with all the timing -- special thanks to his son Grant Wenneborg for joining Greg early in the morning and doing so much work to ensure that the timing worked smoothly.
  • John Ward has become our go-to course manager.
  • Finally, special thanks to Lucas Tyler and the crew at The Running Shop. They do so much for these events, whether hosting packet pickup, providing awards, or hosting post-race pickup, the Running Shop is a big part of everything.

We are so appreciative for a whole host of others who woke up early and made the whole thing happen. Here is a list of all the names on our volunteer roster -- if you see names multiple times it's because they signed up for multiple slots! I'm sure there's more, so I'm sorry to those we missed!

Thank You for Supporting BEYOND-TUCSON

TMC T10k is the second leg of the 2025 Gabe Zimmerman Triple Crown honoring the slain civil servant, Gabe Zimmerman

Special thanks to Ross Zimmerman and the Zimmerman family for allowing us to honor Gabe through these events. Supported by funding from Tucson Medical Center and participants, the Triple Crown has raised almost $5000 in 2025.

BEYOND Tucson Foundation: Following the tragic shooting on the morning of January 8, 2011 in Tucson, Arizona at Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords’ “Congress On Your Corner,” the Southern Arizona community spontaneously came together to honor, remember, and show solidarity for those that were killed, injured, or traumatized by the event. Along with its partners, BEYOND provides year-round opportunities for the public to participate in a series of healthy activities and to learn more about the scientific research that shows methods for optimal physical and mental health.
