We have been honored to host GPS support groups online for the past 2 weeks and we have heard your stories from all over the country.
We have heard stories of worry and fear. Fear of the coronavirus engulfing our families and communities. Fear about how to pay bills now that we are suddenly unemployed. Fears about having a place to live and having enough food. Fears about being alone when we give birth or being separated from our babies. Fears about work conditions that put ourselves or our loved ones at risk.
We have heard of frustration. How impossible it is to work from home while caring for little ones who don't understand. Frustration about how to adapt to our new work realities from home. Frustration about the new limitations on our lives.
We have heard feelings of deep grief. Grief that we can't visit and comfort our elders, parents and grandparents. Grief that we, or someone we love, is infected. Grief over other medical conditions that our loved ones, or we, are struggling with. Grief about loss.
We have heard intense anxiety as we face the unknown as never before. “How long will this take?” “Will my family be spared?” “How can I hold it together for everyone else when I’m falling apart?”
It’s A LOT.
No one has answers to any of these questions. We can't “fix it” right now. So what can we do?
- Listen to one another with compassion, respect and non-judgement.
- Embrace the expression of strong emotions, knowing that they are waves crashing over and will ebb again.
- Listen with confidence in the strength and resilience of the human spirit.
GPS Groups are bringing people together to share their fears and listen with love. And it helps. A LOT. Because when we listen to pain, we hear strength. When we listen to fear, we hear hope. When we listen to grief, we hear love. We each walk away feeling lighter, stronger, connected and more hopeful.
Please join us at one of our support groups offered online at the right. You will be grateful that you did. We will be grateful to welcome you with open arms, even though we are apart.
With Love & Compassion,
Annette and Liz
We’ll provide the training and support.
You provide the heart.
