HOT JOBS ALERT!
2020 STEM EXPO TO
SHOWCASE FASTEST GROWING CAREER PATHS
Do you want to learn more about the hottest growing jobs? Then be sure to attend the 2020 STEM Expo on Wednesday, January 22, 2020. That’s when you’ll learn from nurses, engineers, cybersecurity experts, physicians, skilled trades workers, software designers, geologists, STEM students, architects, contractors, university representatives, computer programmers and more about what it takes to successfully pursue a career in a wide variety of STEM fields. As a bonus this year, you will also be able to learn about the classes that support STEM careers by participating in activities with DTEC instructors in their labs and classrooms, as well as other District Career Technical Instructors. Practice virtual reality welding, enter the world of cybersecurity, manipulate robots, step inside an ambulance, identify animal skulls, learn about diesel electrical boards, and more!
According to the Idaho Department of Labor and U.S. Department of Labor , STEM professions are among the fastest growing, most abundant and highest paying occupations in Idaho and the U.S. with 10 out of 10 “Idaho’s Hot Jobs” representing STEM related needs in Idaho alone. In 2016, only 2,000 Idaho students graduated with degrees in STEM fields while the Idaho Department of Labor projects a need for 36,000 STEM degrees.

Last year’s Health Expo was a huge success, attracting more than 1,000 students and parents. This year’s event is sure to be even bigger as the District expands to many more STEM fields.  All Boise School District junior high school and senior high school students and their parents are invited to attend this year’s STEM Expo 2020. The STEM Expo will be held at the Dennis Technical Education Center, 3324 S. Pro Tech Drive, Boise (behind the District Services Center on Victory Road). Exhibits open at 5 p.m. and panel discussions begin at 5:30 p.m.

Admission to STEM Expo 2020 is free! The first 100 students admitted receive free earbuds.  All Boise School District students can also enter to win an iPad, Ozobot Evo, Sphero Bolt or Ollie! Special thanks to St. Luke’s Health System, Idaho STEM Action Center, and Sparklight for being sponsors of this year’s event!
