💜 From the Minnesota Front Lines
SWWAP is committed to standing with the people of Minnesota until ICE is out. There are still 2000+ ICE agents in Minneapolis/Saint Paul, even as the Trump administration claimed they were de-escalating the occupation by withdrawing 700 agents.
Following is a description which comes directly from a Twin Cities resident who is on the ground doing welfare checks on neighbors, delivering groceries and serving as a neighborhood ICE Observer.
“… Last Friday we all hit a wall of seemingly unmanageable despair. Although the emotional roller coaster continues the sense of despair has shifted, it feels like in our little corner, manageable. Perhaps that is my delusion for day. ….
Zion Community Commons (ZCC) have been our main resource for food and diapers. They’ve helped bring sanity to our process and nutrient dense foods to our families. Fresh produce, no junk food.
Zion Community Commons (ZCC) only takes cash donations because they don’t have the space to store physical items. They manage this by making 2-3 runs a day to food warehouses to buy exactly what is needed at wholesale prices….”
As you read this, and consider how you can help, please think long-term. Not everyone will have the resources to donate every week. But we ALL have the capacity to share this information with our own connections.
Zion Community Commons is affiliated with Zion Lutheran Church in Saint Paul. This news article about ZCC’s work when snap benefits were cut off is worth your time to read as well.
Please consider donating to Zion Community Commons if you are able. Either way, please copy/paste and share this information with your own network of friends and family. Help let Minnesota know we hear her voice by acting to support her now, in her time of greatest need.
💜 Thank you from the SWWAP Advisory Board!
