The Adirondack Rail Trail Association was founded with a clear purpose: To remove the railroad infrastructure along the Remsen-Lake Placid Travel Corridor and convert the pathway into an accessible multi-use trail. While the obstacles to achieving this goal were many, over 10,000 people coalesced around ARTA's mission and the vision of its Board–and this month, New York State began construction on the Adirondack Rail Trail. Your support of the Association helped to make this possible, and we are so grateful.
We hope you will join us as ARTA embarks on its next phase. To help navigate this new stage, ARTA hired Brian Woods as its Executive Director. Brian’s mission focuses on the community-oriented aspects of the Association’s work, including establishing ARTA as the umbrella stewardship organization for the Rail Trail. The challenge ahead is clear: We—as a public, as business owners, as distinct municipalities, and as supporters and members of ARTA—must band together to make the Adirondack Rail Trail more than a path that physically links our communities; it should lift them up, as well. The Trail's future depends upon key initiatives in safety, accessibility, maintenance, and outreach, and ARTA cannot do this work without your support.
Inspired by our recent successes, we’re asking you to consider a gift to the Adirondack Rail Trail Association. Gifts to ARTA are directed to the area of most immediate operational need, and therefore help to ensure the Association has the tools it needs to position the Rail Trail as a lasting resource for generations to come.
