Topic: "Listen & Learn"

Greetings! The Basic Dignity Coalition (BDC) is returning on February 5, and we invite you to join us for a community-centered conversation grounded in dignity, equity, and lived experience.

Led by Think Dignity, the Basic Dignity Coalition brings together advocates, service providers, policymakers, and people directly impacted by homelessness to identify emerging needs and shape policy solutions rooted in human rights.

This first convening of the year is intentionally designed as a listen-and-learn space. Rather than starting with predetermined priorities, we are coming together to hear directly from the community:

  • What challenges are people facing right now?
  • What systems are causing harm — and where are there opportunities for change?

Your voice, perspective, and presence matter. Whether you come to share lived experience, professional insight, or simply to listen and learn, the Coalition is a space for constructive dialogue and collective problem-solving.

Together, we can help shape a more just, humane, and dignified San Diego — one where basic needs are recognized as human rights.

Warmly,

The Basic Dignity Coalition Team

About the BDC

The Basic Dignity Coalition is a vibrant and diverse body of individuals who regularly meet to provide input on Think Dignity’s advocacy and programming agenda by identifying changing trends and responding to emerging issues that challenge unhoused San Diegans.

Since 2010, the coalition has advocated for dignified solutions to issues affecting those experiencing homelessness.

Support the BDC

The Basic Dignity Advocacy Fund is the engine that makes the work of the Coalition possible from funding the BDC, our Public Policy Committee, and community-driven advocacy year-round.

Most grants don’t fund advocacy work. You can.

When you give to the Basic Dignity Advocacy Fund, you ensure that the voices of those most impacted shape the policies that affect them. You help turn lived experience into lasting change.

Give today. Fuel the movement. Fund the change.
