You're Invited! Build 220 ribbon cutting ceremonies
We hope you are enjoying the last couple weeks of summer! It has been quite busy around Barrington 220, as construction crews put the final touches on new additions at Station Middle School, Prairie Middle School and Grove Avenue Elementary. In addition, crews are completing projects at Roslyn Road Elementary and Sunny Hill Elementary, which include dedicated STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) spaces and sensory rooms at each school. Crews are also working on a new playground at Sunny Hill, which is anticipated to be completed in September.

In order to celebrate the end of construction at each school, Barrington 220 invites you to attend ribbon cutting ceremonies on the following dates and times. Each ceremony is open to the public and will include a ribbon cutting, followed by a tour of the new spaces.

  • Prairie Middle School: Monday, August 15 from 8am-9am
  • Station Middle School: Monday, August 15 from 1pm-2pm
  • Grove Avenue Elementary: Tuesday, August 16 from 9am-10am
  • Roslyn Road Elementary: Tuesday, August 16 from 11am-12pm
  • Sunny Hill Elementary: Wednesday, August 17 from 1pm-2pm
Back to school traffic information
As many of you are aware, Hart Road is currently closed from US Route 14 (Northwest Highway) to Main Street (Lake Cook Road) until November. In order to ease traffic in the area and make sure students arrive safely to school this fall, the district is working with the Village of Barrington, Barrington Police Department, and Barrington Transportation Company, in order to provide the option of shuttle buses and permitted parking spots for Barrington High School students at various locations throughout the village. BHS will send out more details to families next week. Families are also highly encouraged to have their students ride the school bus or carpool.
D220 adopts new mission, core beliefs, learner profile and strategic priorities
In case you missed it, at the June 21 Board of Education meeting, the Board approved a new mission, core beliefs, learner profile and strategic priorities for the district. This work is the result of the district’s strategic planning process “Framework 220”, in which the district spent several months during the 2021-22 school year gathering feedback in-person and virtually from nearly 4,500 stakeholders. The feedback was used to create the following:

This work will serve as the foundation and strategic direction for Barrington 220. This fall the district will develop specific action plans within each strategic priority.

Former district office up for sale
Over the summer, the Board approved a resolution to initiate the sale of the former district office, located at 310 E. James Street in Barrington. The sale of the 12,413 square foot building will happen through a sealed bid process. The building is located in an area with a mix of houses and businesses. The district moved into the location in the early 1970s, when the school district was officially formed. For more information, contact the Barrington 220 Business Office at 847-842-3514.
