The Advancing Equity in Rezoning project is excited to announce its first community meeting on April 5. At this community meeting, the project team will review the scope of the project, provide background on the rezoning process and ways you can stay engaged with the project, and share initial feedback on what issues the project should solve as well as potential goals that should be achieved. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the issues and goals.

What's happened so far?
A volunteer community task force was formed to help guide the project and develop recommendations for public review and consideration. The task force has had two meetings and an orientation about zoning and the rezoning process. Their third meeting is on March 23, which you can register to observe here. The task force typically meets every fourth Wednesday of the month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. and all the meetings are open to the public to observe. Task force meeting materials, including the meeting recording, presentation, and notes, are posted after each meeting on our Project Archive section of the webpage.

I want to learn more about the issues
Great! The project team created a background report and orientation videos about the zoning and rezoning process so task force and community members could better understand how zoning works and the process to change a zone district. There are separate videos about each topic, which you can access through the links below.
How can I get involved?

Why are we doing this work?
As the city grows and changes, buildings and their uses change too. Refreshing the rezoning process will allow us to better incorporate Denver's values and priorities as articulated in Comprehensive Plan 2040andBlueprint Denver, both adopted in 2019. The Advancing Equity in Rezoning project aims to improve transparency and access to the rezoning process, consider the impact of rezonings on neighboring residents and properties, and explore how rezonings can lead to equitable outcomes that better serve all community members, such as access to open space, public transportation, housing and employment opportunities.
