Dear MCS Families,

You are invited to our second Family/Child Night, this Friday, May 17th from 5:30-7:00 pm! This is a very special time for MCS students to show their family a few lessons they are currently working on. Some classrooms may have specific time slots to sign up for. See your child's Lead Teacher with any questions.

** Please Note: UE/ Adolescent Families- Due to the field trip this week, there will not be Family/Child Night for UE/ Adol Families on 5/17. It will be rescheduled for another time (to be announced).

Please remember this is a time for you to spend some one-on-one time with only your MCS child. If you have any specific questions about the classroom or your child, please see your child's Lead Teacher to set up a conference time.

The students are so excited to show you around the classroom! Please take a few minutes to read the note below. We look forward to seeing you there!

** Please see below from a child's perspective:

Welcome to Parent/Child Night at my school! I am glad you are here! This night is for you and me to be together in my classroom. Please look at my classroom through my eyes. Before we get started, I wanted you to know a few guidelines that my classmates and I encourage all visitors to follow. In our classroom, we use our inside voices, which are soft and quiet. We sit on chairs or on the floor. In the hallway, we sit on the benches provided for us, but we never sit on the window sills. We have learned the shelves, window sills and tables are not for sitting. We try very hard to respect each other's work. We do not interrupt our classmates as they are working nor do we touch their work.

As for me: I am a little nervous tonight. Let me choose the lesson(s) that I want to show you. Please focus on the work I am doing and wait for me to finish my lesson before you comment, touch or ask me about my work. Sometimes I will make a mistake with my lesson, but I will figure it out. If I do make a mistake allow me to think it through and make the correction myself. This builds my self-esteem, confidence and problem solving skills. If I do not return my lesson to its proper place.…..gently remind me with your inside voice to return the lesson to its shelf before I choose another one.

Tonight is for you and me. If you want to talk with my director or directress about my development please make an appointment with them for a later day. Thank you!
