In celebration of the upcoming AAPI Heritage Month, we would like to invite you to the KINTSUKUROI film screening and panel discussion with the film crew and cast that will be taking place on Thursday, April 17th from 2pm-5pm PT in the Sierra College Dietrich Theatre (Building T) and moderated by former news anchor Sharon Ito. This is a community-wide event, so space is limited. We strongly encourage you to register in advance for your free/paid ticket before the tickets run out.

The award-winning film chronicles the experiences of a Japanese American family during WWII. Like every immigrant family, the Itos came to the United States to build a better life. After years of struggle and sacrifice, the dream that was America seemed within its grasp. Then the bombs fell, and the world changed forever. With a stroke of his pen, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 and effectively destroyed the lives of 120,000 Japanese Americans at the onset of WWII. KINTSUKUROI follows members of the Ito family from their pre-war life in San Francisco’s Japantown to the concentration camps of the American West to the battlefields of Europe as they endure one of the most shameful periods in American history. The film features Ryan Takemiya, Kealani Kitaura, Ken Takeda, Ron Munekawa, Kiyomi Koide and Chizu Omori.

Ikeibi Films is proud to partner with AAPI Placer County, Still Standing Guard, Sierra College Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), American River Conservancy, and the Empowering Asian Students (EAS) CommUnity of Sierra College in order to bring this film to our local Placer County community. Both the film crew and local organizations will be bringing historical artifacts from the film set as well as the local Japanese American community for participants to view and learn from during the event. Please note that space is limited, so we strongly encourage you to reserve your free/paid ticket as soon as possible to ensure your seat at this special event.
