November 7, 2024

Dear Friends,

I invite you to join me on November 13 at an online open house to see one of our workshops (and your support!) at play. Experience the connecting effects of artful caregiving with one of our community clients and led by our stellar teaching artists. I hope you’ll participate. RSVP here by November 11.

Arts for the Aging Teaching Artists – world class tenor Peter Joshua Burroughs and maestro Carlos César Rodríguez of RÓMEZ3arts – will engage us in the enduring favorite, coOPERAtion. Learn about opera. Sing and act with us. Meet some of our community participants. Come behind the scenes as we learn together how opera tells timeless stories of our hopes, dreams, and tragedies. You’ll hear excerpts from beloved operas and popular music accompanied by live piano … and always some improvisation. Sing, act, and move with us!

Click here to register by Nov 11. This event is free; capacity is limited to the first 30 registrants.

Our Mission

Since 1988 Arts for the Aging has practiced what studies now show --- the value of regular arts participation for improved physical, cognitive, and emotional health. We connect older adults and caregivers who need it most with arts experiences to increase social engagement and prevent loneliness, and we equip professional artists with curriculums, trainings, and skills to ignite self-expression and social connection vital to healthy aging and caregiving. We design and deliver in-person and virtual workshops in consort with grassroots to premiere community partners, and we offer multidisciplinary art forms: painting, dancing, singing, storytelling, poetry-making and more. We see first-hand how our programs inspire empathy and respect, foster communication and belonging, and promote social connection.
