Bronco family,

I am excited to announce the launch of the Bronco Family Academy – a pilot program that will feature current CPP students, alumni, faculty, and staff as they highlight key polytechnic experiences during their time at Cal Poly Pomona.

Each session will explore questions like: what does it mean to attend a Polytechnic university? What does a learn-by-doing approach look like? What career and life skills are gained through these experiences? What campus resources are available for my student? During virtual instruction, an even more important question has developed – How can you best achieve a polytechnic experience online?

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, the first Academy session will take place virtually over Zoom on Friday, Nov. 13th from 6 pm – 7 pm. This pilot session will include current and former students from the Collins College of Hospitality as they share their experience participating in last year’s Smith Travel Research (STR) Student Market Analysis Competition, which is held annually in conjunction with the biggest hotel tradeshow in New York City. Students from 25 undergraduate and 12 graduate programs from around the world competed in 2019. STR is a leading data analytics provider for the lodging industry and also hosted competitions in London and Hong Kong.

We encourage parents and families with students from all majors and backgrounds to attend – This program is all about giving parents, family members, and supporters an opportunity to come together and learn more about our campus, so everyone is welcome!
I look forward to seeing you all on Zoom on Nov. 13th at 6 pm. Go Broncos!
