Dear Friends and Neighbors,

Following the success of last year's effort, I am pleased to invite you to the kickoff of our Car Free Day initiative, happening next Tuesday at 9:15 at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering's Pfizer Auditorium at 5 Metrotech Center.

Last year, we partnered with organizations, companies and institutions across the city, encouraging New Yorkers to leave their cars home for just a day, and choose to commute a different way. This year, we are working to expand on those efforts and drive awareness even further!

At our kickoff event, we'll have presentations by the team from Cubic Transportation Systems, MasterCard and Microsoft, who tracked the data on Car Free Day '16. We'll also have presentations from PerkinsEastman on their "Broadway Green" proposal and Transportation Alternatives about their "Peopleway" solution to the pending L Train shutdown.

I hope you can join us as we work to make Car Free Day (April 22nd, 2017) an even more successful event this year. This event will touch on the vision of this initiative and opportunities for individuals or organizations to participate. We're expecting a strong turnout so please RSVP with my office: mshelter@council.nyc.gov or rmurphy2@council.nyc.gov.

For more information about Car Free Day, please check out and distribute our " Car Free Day One-Pager" to spread the word and learn about the mission of Car Free Day NYC!

I thank you all for your continued support and dedication to making this initiative a success.
Best,
