Join us on a virtual leadership learning journey through the rural Northwest.
Please join us for the Northwest Learning Journey, an event that will explore leadership and its development in the rural Northwest. During this virtual convening, we will hear from several rural and rural-tribal leaders who will share their (sometimes unorthodox) path to leadership and their work to foster equitable communities.

Rural leadership development practitioners will have the opportunity to share lessons and insights about how leadership is cultivated and sustained in rural communities. We invite philanthropists to listen, learn, and also share perspectives on funding rural leadership development.
The learning journey will take place over 3 days:

  • September 25, 10am-11:45am PT: Leaders in Rural Tribal Communities
  • October 9, 10am-11:45am PT: Leaders in Transitioning Rural Economies
  • October 23, 10am-11:45am PT: Far and Remote Rural Leaders
This convening will include regional rural leaders, leadership development practitioners, funders, and others interested in a future where all rural people and communities can thrive.

Save the Date for What's Next
We ask Northwest leadership development practitioners and philanthropists to save the date for an event on January 13, 2021 (10am-1pm PT). We’ll share findings from the learning journey and explore what rural Northwest communities need to become stronger—and the best ways to strengthen leadership to meet those needs.

Rural Development Initiatives is hosting this gathering as part of RuraLead, a national learning initiative that seeks to understand good leadership qualities and leadership development practices. This initiative is organized by Rural Development Initiatives with the support of multiple regional partners across the United States and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. In each region, we will bear witness and honor the work of rural leaders. We will host a series of video conferences to connect leaders, ideas, and funders. Together, we will explore a broad definition of leadership and how we can elevate it in all its forms.
