We are pleased to invite our Residents, employees and families to a very special patriotic event happening here on our hilltop!
Ohio Valley Marine Corps League Detachment No. 882 will visit Mt. Assisi Place at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21, to “retire the colors.” They will officially retire the tattered flag on our pole and ceremoniously raise a new one to replace it.
We were honored to host the same detachment in 2020, but the flag they raised then has already become badly weathered by wind. The Marines will follow the proper retirement protocol in moving fashion.
Each Resident is welcome to invite two family members to attend the ceremony and to enjoy patriotic cupcakes afterwards. Guests may RSVP online (click red button below) or by calling 412-761-1999 before end of day on Monday, September 19.
Residents and employees may submit the names of two veterans in their families – living or deceased – to be read during a special prayer honoring those who have served. Names may be submitted by clicking the button below or when RSVPing to the Reception Desk.
The event will be held entirely outdoors. Lawn chairs are recommended for guests. In the event of rain, we will make every effort to reschedule.
