YOM ORCHIM FAQ's

What is Yom Orchim?

Yom Orchim is a special morning at Maimonides School dedicated to welcoming grandparents of students in our Early Childhood Center and Elementary School. It’s a chance for these beloved guests to experience the joy of a Maimonides education and, most importantly, to shep nachat—to take pride in their grandchildren and the beautiful community they are part of.

Who is invited?

This day is designed for grandparents (or great-grandparents!) and is meant to celebrate the unique multigenerational bonds between children and their grandparents.

What if a child doesn’t have a grandparent who can attend?

We understand that not every child has a grandparent nearby or able to join. In those cases, we warmly welcome a special friend—someone who plays an important role in the child’s life—to share in the day’s joy. This could be a relative, older sibling, or family friend.

What will guests do during Yom Orchim?

Guests will enjoy breakfast, participate in classroom activities, and spend meaningful time with their students in a school setting. They’ll also enjoy a Zimriyah (musical performance). The day offers a window into each child’s school experience and a chance to feel the warmth and ruach of the Maimonides community. After the Zimriyah, guests are invited for an optional lunch and learn with Rabbi Green.
