Downeast Salmon Federation invites you to a Community Celebration & Special Kick-Off Event for the formal launch of a $2.2 million fundraising effort for The Peter Gray Parr Project. We will have tours of the Peter Gray Hatchery, a reception, and light refreshments, along with a special guest from the University of Maine, Chancellor James Page.

Enjoy Machias River Brewing Company’s special brew called Atlantic Salmon Ale created specifically for the event. Flexit Cafe & Bakery is catering and will serve Mongr smoked wild Alaskan salmon, and other delicious hors d'oeuvres. We’ll have our mobile smoker going and will offer freshly smoked mackerel.

Fundraising efforts to date for the Peter Gray Parr Project have resulted in over half a million dollars donated and pledged by businesses, foundations, residents, visitors and members of Downeast Salmon Federation. Join us for this community-wide event and help us to celebrate the success we’ve had in the first five years of the project and pave the way for the next five years and beyond!

Prints of Above the Fork from renowned sporting artist  Peter Corbin  will be for sale. All proceeds go to Peter Gray Parr Project!

The goal of the Peter Gray Parr Project is to increase the number of parr raised and stocked to over 2,000,000. At an estimated cost of just over $1 per parr, we must raise $2.2 million dollars to support this restoration. For every dollar donated, contributors will literally be putting more parr in the East Machias River and directly impacting the restoration of Maine's wild Atlantic salmon population. All donations make a difference!
