Dear Friend,

We invite you to join us on Friday, April 21st at 10:00 am EDT for part two of our three-part series on CMC's Commitment to Excellence in Health Care. The second lecture entitled “Impact of CMC’s Education Experience on the Health and Wellbeing of India" will be presented by one of CMC’s most prominent faculty members, Dr. Anna Pulimood.

Dr. Ida Scudder’s mission, through the Christian Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) of Vellore, was to bring forth excellence in the practice of medicine through the education of Indian women and men, instilling in them the importance of compassionate care and both spiritual and physical healing. For more than 100 years, CMC has provided a unique education model that develops the whole person, empowering future servant-leaders of health teams and healing communities. Dr. Anna Pulimood, former Principal at CMC, will elaborate on how the unique CMC educational experience encourages students to promote outstanding healthcare initiatives throughout the Indian sub-continent and beyond.

Dr. Anna Pulimood graduated from CMC in 1982 and completed her specialization in Pathology at CMC in 1995. In 2010, she completed her Ph.D. in her primary area of interest, which is inflammatory bowel disorders, specifically relating to the differentiation of intestinal tuberculosis from Crohn’s disease. Her work in the area of Crohn’s disease has been widely accepted both nationally and internationally. Her interests in academia and management led to her advancement into several administrative posts at CMC, initially in the management of CMC’s USAID/ASHA grants, and then in the field of education, as the Vice Principal for the Undergraduate Medical Curriculum and Vice Principal for Human Resource. In 2016, Dr. Pulimood was named Principal of the Medical College, where she became responsible for the management of all academic affairs and research.
