A Decade of Fire & Ice
On Saturday, February 4 2023 from 3 to 6 PM, ICG will host its 10th Festival of Fire & Ice at home and in the Garden!

Enjoy the hot chocolate cauldron, experience the power of storytelling by Perry Ground, and learn about winter wildlife with NY State Parks educators. There will also be a snow maze, scavenger hunts, and a sculptural bonfire by Rusty Keeler; culminating in an Arctic Animal Parade, and a dazzling fire performance by Blackroot.

Bundle up and celebrate the coldest season with us! Admission to the Garden is always free, donations are encouraged. As a community-funded organization, your donations help keep the Garden growing. There will be snacks and beverages available for purchase.
Volunteers make community events possible!
We have a photography/videography volunteer role and two volunteer shifts available (we are particularly looking to fill the late event shift):

Setup and early event shift: 1:30 to 4:00 PM
Late event shift and cleanup: 4:00 to 6:30 PM
Photography/videography: 3:00 to 6:00 PM

If you are interested, please email volunteer@ithacachildrensgarden.org with your preference and availability.
Solstice Soup
Playful Nature Explorers and their families gathered on December 20th to celebrate the oncoming solstice. The winter solstice is a time to gather with those you love, share warmth in your community, and welcome the light as we enter the cold season.

Each PNE participant brought one ingredient to create a warm vegetable soup. As it cooked, their parents arrived to form the beautiful community that Playful Nature Explorers creates. Parents and kids alike took bowls of soup and gathered in the Kid's Kitchen to warm up and get to know each other better.

Stories were shared, plans to meet up outside of the program were made, and play happened. The winter may feel long, but the light that is shared between friends and family keeps us warm all season long.
