Just in case you're sitting on the sidelines with an overwhelming Grinchy attitude, this is your personal invitation into 'Tis the Season' merriment and holiday splendor. With a light blanket of snow on the ground and Jack Frost nipping, I encourage you to dust off your pine, spruce or favorite holiday candle and let the scent of winter invoke a time of peace and love and joy for all.
Still not feeling it? Dig out the Manheim Steamroller CD [or simply search YouTube] and blast the spirit of Christmas in your car, your office or your home! Grab a few extra pieces of that 92 bright white 20lb copy paper and make yourself a few beautiful homemade snowflakes to hang in the window. Grab a spare box of candy canes and pass them out at the most unassuming moments, bathroom stalls NOT encouraged. Smile and offer up a sincere "Happy Holidays", "Merry Christmas", or "Happy New Year" over the next few weeks to promote a proper 'Tis the Season' attitude.
This year has been different. It's been weird. It's been hard. There are still days I would prefer to insert myself under the nearest rock, only to reappear when someone has pressed that illusive easy button. However, through all of the nonsense we have navigated channels of learning that reinforced the value of togetherness and hope and encouragement. We hardened our armor and equipped ourselves to be resilient and mighty and to chase what matters.
So I extend to you one last time, an invitation to 'Tis the Season' and to stifle your Grinch, that you may be hopeful for what is to come and encouraging to those around you. Because together we will celebrate, even while apart. Together we will enjoy all that this season has to offer, which is the reminder of being good to others. So go bake a batch of cookies, blare some Pentatonix, watch your favorite Christmas movie and drink all the eggnog...
