Block Connectors and volunteers hosted an ice cream party with the help of the operating grant.


The neighbours had ice cream, games and were able to make new connections with people in their neighbourhood.


Looking to build and support relationships within your neighbourhood? Then the Block Connector program is for you. You can help plan fun events like this one!

Register for the Neighbourhood Summit!

Come network with residents across Waterloo to discuss all things neighbourhoods.


This is a free event taking place on November 7, 2024 at Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex Community Pavilion from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.


Highlights include:

  • booths from local organizations
  • food and drinks will be provided
  • a discussion around sustainability in neighbourhoods
  • candle making workshop

Volunteering on a City of Waterloo committee of council or local board is one of the ways you can get involved and make a difference.

Neighbours in the Foxhunt Neighbourhood hosted their annual party in park!


There were local musicians, rock painting, face painting, refreshments and games for all neighbours to enjoy.

This was supported by our operating grant.

Movie night at the park

Block connectors in Lincoln Heights hosted a movie in the park at Roselea Park!


Neighbours gathered and enjoyed live music, crafts, games, snacks and a movie.


This event used items from our special events equipment program. Contact us to host a movie night in your neighbourhood!

Apply for the Neighbourhood Fund!

The Neighbourhood Fund application deadline is on October 15 at 2 p.m.


Brainstorm projects that you want to see in your neighbourhood that will help neighbours develop connections, foster a sense of belonging, and create opportunities for placemaking. Then, we'll work with you to bring it to life!


Groups of two or more neighbours may apply for up to $,7500 to support their idea.

Drop-in programs are available!

The fall drop-in schedule is back. There are a variety of programs available for all ages and skill level!


Sign up for public skating, parent and child skating, badminton, table tennis and more! 


To register for a class please go to ActiveNet or go in person and speak to customer service at Albert McCormick Community Centre, Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex or RIM Park.

  • Oct 5: Dig in and plant native wildflowers and shrubs within natural areas in Waterloo Park on October 5 at this community planting event


  • Oct 5: Come join the Ride-A-Bus program and get to know Grand River Transit. This free event is for older adults wishing to become comfortable with bus services in the Waterloo Region. A bus ride and training session with GRT's travel training experts is included. This will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Community Room, second floor, WMRC Community Pavilion, 101 Father David Bauer Drive, Waterloo. To register call 519-579-1020.
