Whether it's transforming a stark space into a lush
urban forest
, turning a little-used plaza into a
performance area
or creating colorful, mini
pop-up libraries
, Miamians have creative ideas for their outdoor neighborhood spots, and are using the
Public Space Challenge
to make them happen. These are among the
22 winners
from 500+ entries who will share more than $300,000 to create or improve Miami-Dade parks and outdoor spaces.

Twenty-five nonprofits share $225,000 to serve Miami-Dade's LGBTQ community
The
LGBTQ Community Fund (formerly GLBT Community Projects Fund), in partnership with the
National LGBTQ Task Force, supports programs and advocacy work to improve quality of life for Greater Miami's LGBTQ residents. This year, 25 local nonprofits will share $225,000 to advance their work, many serving the most vulnerable populations. To date, the Fund has granted $2.5 million to more than 260 projects.
