The Wilmot Woods Bridge Has Not Been Fixed
The Wilmot Woods pedestrian bridge going from the junction of Livingston and Puritan Drives to Shepherds Drive was inspected by the City of New Rochelle and deemed unsafe. Discussions are underway as to how to repair the bridge. In the interim, Carla and Josh Klapper are offering members to use their driveway at 8 Puritan Drive, to cross their yard and walk up a few steps into the woods and onto a path that ends on Shepherds Drive thereby avoiding the bridge. We want to thank the Klappers for their generous offer to provide an alternate route through their property.

Cholent Club
About two years ago, the Cholent Club at the Young Israel of Scarsdale was formed to provide a hot Kiddush approximately once a month. The Kiddush was generally scheduled for a Shabbat Mevarchim on which a hot Kiddush was not provided by a Simcha. Everyone is welcome at the Kiddush. We would now like to expand membership to everyone who is interested. Increased membership will permit a hot Kiddush more often. If you are interested in remaining or becoming a member, the dues are $250 for the year. Please click here to make payment.

Shul School Lite begins Tuesday, October 19th @ 5:00pm
We are pleased to announce that this year we will once again be offering a "Shul School Lite" program during the 2021-2022 academic year in the late afternoon once a week beginning the week of October 18th. Our “Shul School Lite” program is geared towards boys and girls who are currently in public or private schools that are outside the traditional Jewish Day School system. It affords the ability for everyone in our communal orbit to receive engaging Jewish enrichment classes taught by our Rabbinic and educational staff.
We offer two groups during "Shul School Lite" in which we will have fun, interactive learning experiences. One group will be for 5th-7th grade and the other will be for 8th-9th grade. We cover topics such as the weekly Parsha, Jewish holidays and the big questions of Judaism.
The sessions will be led by dynamic educational professionals: Rabbi Nuriel Klinger, Edna Krausz and our Bnei Akiva Shlichot, Carmel and Eden. The cost is $550/child for the year. To register see below and for more information on the exact timing of each group please contact Rabbi Klinger, [email protected]
If you are looking for a more extensive Hebrew School Program for your child, there is one at the local Chabad run by Rochel Butman. For more information on that program please speak to Rochel Butman ( [email protected]), or visit their website at http://alefbetschool.com/

Important YIS COVID Related Announcement
We have created an e-mail address at [email protected] to make it easier for individuals who have been to shul to self-report COVID-19 cases. The e-mails will only be sent to a small group (including a medical professional) who will then determine appropriate steps to be taken, if any. As always, reports will be kept confidential unless the individual elects to be identified to assist in contact tracing.
