Eruv Tavshilin -
Cooking on Yom Tov is permitted for the needs of the day itself; however, when Shabbat starts right after Yom Tov, the rabbis permitted cooking on Yom Tov for Shabbat provided that preparations for Shabbat are begun before the holiday.
This is accomplished through an eruv tavshilin - before Yom Tov starts, take a piece of Matzah/Challah roll and a cooked food (typically a hard-boiled egg), hold them, and recite the following:
Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us regarding the mitzvah of Eruv: May it be permissible for us to cook, to prepare, to hide, to light candles, to repair, and to take care of all Shabbat needs, not for the permitted, not for the forbidden, and for all Israel who dwell in this city.

Dear YIS Community,
We are still so overwhelmed with gratitude to Hashem that Almog was rescued, and to express that gratitude, our committee just met with another hostage family, the family of Yossi and Eli Sharabi. Tragically, Yossi was killed and his body is still in Gaza. Eli is presumed alive and in Gaza.
A few days before Almog was rescued, we secured 100 t-shirts that an Israeli fashion label made to raise awareness for Almog, using his now even more poignant forearm tattoo, “Alive.” as the symbol. We had planned to sell them to raise money for our shul’s efforts for Almog. Now, the proceeds will go to helping raise awareness about Yossi and Eli Sharabi.
The t-shirt options are white and black, S-M-L-XL, and are being sold for $25 each.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
