YIS Family Mission to Israel 2.0,
August 2019

The mission is slated to start on Wednesday, August 21st and conclude on Thursday, August 29th. Once again the mission will be led by YIS Guide, Maayan Leshem, along with the spiritual guidance of Rabbi Morgenstern, and will start off with several days in and around Jerusalem, including an inspiring Shabbat in Israel's eternal capital.  The trip will also include several days in the Western Galil and other Northern Israel sites.  We will have activities honoring Bar and Bat Mitzvah age children, and will be visiting numerous places that have NOT been included in recent YIS Family Mission itineraries.  This is a mission designed for families with kids of all ages, first-time visitors and veteran Israel travelers. We will also have a kids counselor for our younger children.
The estimated ground price of the trip will be $2850/per person (double occupancy) and $2500 for
a third child in a room.
Michelle & David Levine and Natalie & Jason Yellin
are co-chairs for this trip. Please contact Jason, David or the Rabbi for more information.

In addition to providing a topnotch basketball product, JBL's mission is to bring together families of all Jewish denominations and backgrounds throughout Westchester. JBL is about sportsmanship, sense of community, life lessons and inclusiveness. In that vein, an everlasting tribute has been established by Jeff Kapelus honoring the memories of Rabbi Jacob Rubenstein and Rebittzen Debbie Rubenstein, z"l.
Rabbi and Debbie Rubenstein were supporters of JBL and very proud that JBL proactively brought together families from a variety of schools and of varying degrees of Jewish observance and backgrounds to play and interact with one another. Rabbi Rubenstein was well-respected and known countywide, statewide, countrywide and worldwide as one who encouraged tolerance and inclusiveness. It is with great pride, honor and humility that JBL will be able to do its small part to honor their memories and values.
At the conclusion of each season since 2009, the Rubenstein Memorial Coaching Award has been presented to an outstanding coach in each division who exemplifies leadership, hard work, dedication, commitment, character, patience, sportsmanship, integrity and inclusiveness. These core values were constantly demonstrated and espoused by the Rubensteins.
Congratulations to this year's winners of the Rubenstein Memorial Coaching Award : Haley Wilenzick, Shoshana Eisenberg, Charlie Silverstein, Elan Roth and YIS' own, Jason Bloch.
