Young Leaders Café 3
Private event for Young Leaders and alumni
Date: Tomorrow, November 19 at 1 pm EST/ 19h Paris
Held in memory of Spencer Abbot '05 and Michael Morales '17
Join us for a virtual discussion honoring our many alumni who currently serve or who have previously served in the military. This café will provide a forum for discussing the transition from military to civilian life, and will also compare and contrast experiences in France and the United States. All Young Leaders and alumni are welcome, including those who are not affiliated with the military but who wish to honor those who are.

The Young Leaders Café is a new series exclusive to the Foundation's Young Leaders and alumni featuring a different topic of interest each month. Designed to be small and informal, the café series invites Young Leaders from all class years to see each other on screen, share their thoughts, and learn something new in a private setting.

Description: Each year, the Cyber Security Conference assembles senior defense officials based in France and the US to discuss the most pertinent cyber security challenges on both sides of the Atlantic. Topics to be addressed will include cyber security & remote work; cyber security responses to the pandemic; election security; malware & ransomware attacks; transatlantic critical infrastructure; and more. "The drug maker Pfizer said on Wednesday that its coronavirus vaccine was 95 percent effective and had no serious side effects — the first set of complete results from a late-stage vaccine trial as Covid-19 cases skyrocket around the globe. (...)"
"Two drugmakers, Pfizer and Moderna, have announced promising interim results for their vaccine candidates, raising hopes in the U.S. and abroad that the end of the pandemic may be in sight. But, if and when the vaccines are authorized by the Food and Drug Administration, distributing them presents a daunting challenge. (...)"
"Now comes the news, for the second time in a week, that an experimental vaccine has proved surprisingly effective against Covid-19. Moderna’s vaccine, like Pfizer’s, has shown early protection higher than 90%. Also heard are caveats: Doses won’t be available for months. But the news may be better than we think. (...)"
"Not to be outdone by a rival with a similar product, Pfizer and BioNTech today provided an update on the previously announced success of their COVID-19 vaccine. The U.S. pharma giant and its German biotech partner now report 95% efficacy for their vaccine candidate, drawing on the final analysis of a 43,000-person study. And don’t worry about the elderly not responding to the vaccine; the efficacy only drops to 94% in people over 65 years of age, the companies said in a press release. (...)"

For this occasion, he will be in conversation with Clément Chéroux, Museum of Modern Art, New York, and Pauline Vermare, Magnum Photos, New York.
