Diamonds in the Rough Ladies Golf Tournament
The Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Cranberry Country Chamber of Commerce present the 17th Annual Diamonds in the Rough Ladies' Golf Outing on Wednesday, Sept. 11. It will be held at Hillside Country Club, 82 Hillside Avenue in Rehoboth, MA 02769. 

Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. We will be playing 9 holes and the course will be played in a scramble format, with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $65 per player or $240 per foursome and includes green fees, ½ cart, breakfast, lunch, and a gift bag. You can sign up as a single, twosome, threesome, or foursome. You can attend the lunch only for $30. There will be prizes on various holes and also raffle drawings. 
 
Promote your business by sponsoring a hole ($100), donating a prize
item or gift certificate, or providing items for the players' goody bags.

John Oteri at Poquoy Brook, is offering a series of group lessons (or just one) to go over any skill: $ 25.00 per person, driving, chipping and even going out on a couple of holes to practice if there is time. $20.00 per person if there are 5 or more in the group. If you are interested, email Valerie Glynn at the Cranberry Country Chamber of Commerce.

Lopes Companies Unveils New Camp Riverside Spray Deck
A few weeks ago we announced our continued support for the Boys & Girls Club of Metro South. Well, Aug.19 the brand new Lopes Family Spray Deck was revealed at Camp Riverside during their 2019 annual meeting. We are honored to be involved with this great organization and are glad the kids have a place to cool off during camp!
First Citizens' Offers New Loan for ADUs
First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union announces a new loan offering to help local homeowners add in-law suites/small rental units to their property as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) for a family member, for a caregiver, or simply to generate rental income from unused space. The ADU Loan Program may help address our region’s housing crisis by enabling more cash-strapped homeowners to finance the renovations needed to create an additional small apartment on their property. This loan program is unique from other loans in that First Citizens’ will consider the rent income potential of the newly created apartment when reviewing a loan for approval.
Hallene Named Director of Family Programs at People Inc.
People Incorporated has hired Rachel Hallene as the new director of the Agency’s Healthy Families and Welcome Family programs. Hallene has years of experience working in clinical and nonprofit settings as a therapist, director, and supervisor. She spent three years working with Healthy Families America providing training to supervisors in the program.

Operation Cuts for Kids Sunday, Aug. 25
Please join us for our second annual event on Sunday, Aug. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to support our community with free haircut for children in grades K-12.
While confidence comes from within, a great haircut can help a student put their best foot forward. We believe every child deserves to look and feel great on their way back to school!
In partnership with local barbers and hairdressers, we invite you to a day of music, light refreshments, fun and of course… an amazing haircut!
The event will be held at VFW Club (Veterans of Foreign Wars), 82 Ingell Street, in Taunton.
No appointments needed. Every child must be accompanied by an adult. Cuts given on a first come, first serve basis.

Team Trivia at Old Colony History Museum Sept. 5
The OCHM is excited to host its next After Hours event, Team Trivia, on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 6 - 8 p.m. , at the museum, 66 Church Green, in Taunton.
A re you smarter than a 3rd grader? 8th? How about 12th? Get schooled at our After Hours Trivia Night! Teams will be put to the test with questions from all different grade levels, only the best will graduate to become OCHM’s newest trivia night champs!
Wine Tasting & Hors D'oeuvres by the Sea Sept. 7
Girls Inc. of Taunton will hold its 8th Annual Wine Tasting & Hors d’oeuvres by the Sea on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the Back Eddy Restaurant in Westport. Come and enjoy four different selections of wine and a delicious sampling of hors d’oeuvres while watching a beautiful sunset.

OCHM to host Wesport Rivers Winery Tour Sept. 7
The Old Colony History Museum is taking a trip to Westport Rivers Winery and you are invited to come along.
Tickets are $30 for OCHM Members and $40 for the general public. We’ll meet at the OCHM and leave to drive you to the Winery at 10:15 a.m. From 11-12 enjoy a private tour and wine tasting, followed by lunch catered by Partners Village Café. From 12-1 enjoy your lunch and do a little shopping. Our aim is to leave around 1 p.m. to return to the OCHM.
Free Screening of Intelligent Lives at Co-Op Sept. 12
On Thursday, September 12, 2019 at 2:30 p.m., Cooperative Production, Inc., (“CO-OP”), a non-profit organization assisting adults with intellectual and other disabilities, and Taunton Community Access Media (“TCAM”) invite the public to attend a free film screening of Intelligent Lives, a documentary film by Dan Habib. Mr. Habib is with the Institute on Disability at University of New Hampshire and this is just one of the films he has created on disability-related topics. The viewing will be held at TCAM’s studio at 120 Ingell Street, Taunton.

Join Woman at the Well for its first Glimmer Gala on Sept. 28. The fundraiser will be a glimmering, starlit night of fun, dancing, prizes, and raffles, all to benefit women in recovery. There will also be a silent auction and raffle. Get out your glimmer, sequins, and sparkles. This black tie event will be held at Holiday Inn Taunton, Grand Ballroom, 700 Myles Standish Blvd., in Taunton from 7 p.m. to midnight.
