In Our Prayers

  • We remember Betty Roodal in our prayers as birthday draws near. Happy birthday, Betty, and may your healing continue!

  • We pray for students who are or will be traveling for Spring Break. May your journeys be safe, may your stresses subside, and may your joy be full!

  • We pray for the world in this time of conflict. May the desire for peace increase. May all nations find ways to move away from violence and toward solutions that honor the integrity of both sides. May good triumph over evil, and light prevail over darkness.

Scottish Minister to Lead Worship in July

Drumclog Memorial Kirk in Scotland

Building on the success of last year’s pilgrimage to Scotland, we have exciting news to share! This summer, during the month of July, LAC will welcome the Rev. Calum Stark, a minister from the Church of Scotland, to preach and lead worship here in Larchmont. While he and his family are here with us, Rev. Bynum will be leading worship in the two congregations that Rev. Stark serves in Scotland: the Avendale Old Church in Strathaven and the Memorial Kirk in Drumclog (click here for more information).

Through this “pulpit exchange,” all three of the congregations will get to hear the Word proclaimed in a new voice, make new friends from “across the pond,” and celebrate our common theological heritage in the Reformed tradition. Each week, Rev. Bynum will be sharing his experience in the Scottish parishes through videos and social media.

Stay tuned for more information on this exciting cultural exchange!

Quite the distinction.

"ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING"

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR

PC USA HUNGER, DISASTER, & DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God's love with our neighbors in need around the world.

In a world of disaster, hunger, and oppression, millions of people lack access to

sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.

One Great Hour of Sharing is the single largest way that Presbyterians come together every year to work for a better world. Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing helps improve the lives of the suffering and the vulnerable through three life-saving programs:

  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance- Restore streets to live in.
  • Presbyterian Hunger Programs-Share your Bread with the Hungry.
  • Self-Development of People-Loose the Bonds of Injustice

All three programs work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in

need from initial disaster response to ongoing community development. Their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Traditionally received during the season of Lent, each gift to OGHS helps to improve

the lives of people in these challenging situations. The Offering provides us a way

to share God's love with our neighbors in need.

Donations to OGHS can be made by using the blue envelopes in the church pews (in the coming weeks), or, by sending LAC's Bookkeeper, Gloria Haq, a check, or by using Realm.

Thank you.

Easter Sunday Flower Cross

Last year, Larchmont Avenue Church started a new Easter tradition, inviting the congregation and public to add flowers and greenery to our Flower Cross on Easter Sunday.

Built of wood and wire mesh, the cross will once again be situated outside of our sanctuary near the Larchmont Avenue entrance. As Easter worshipers enter the church, all are invited to place a cut flower or greenery somewhere on the cross. So, if possible, please remember to bring a small floral offering from your household (or pick up a few flowers at a local market). [Note that a limited supply will also be provided at the foot of the cross.] As the structure gradually fills with color and life, it will grow into a beautiful and inspiring symbol of the faith, hope, and love of Easter Sunday -- a witness that stands proud and proclaims the triumph of God's goodness and grace to all who pass.

Help us share our Easter joy with our community!

Add your simple gifts to the Flower Cross.
