In Our Prayers

  • We pray for those who lost loved ones in last week's accident at LaGuardia airport, and for all the workers who are trying to keep air travel safe. We pray that our leaders will make decisions based on what is good for the well-being of all.

  • We are thankful today for a wonderful presentation on heart health and the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest at last night's SEEKERS. Important conversations like these remind us of how important it is for us to take good care of one another.

Scottish Minister to Lead Worship in July

Drumclog Memorial Kirk in Scotland

Building on the success of last year’s pilgrimage to Scotland, we have exciting news to share! This summer, during the month of July, LAC will welcome the Rev. Calum Stark, a minister from the Church of Scotland, to preach and lead worship here in Larchmont. While he and his family are here with us, Rev. Bynum will be leading worship in the two congregations that Rev. Stark serves in Scotland: the Avendale Old Church in Strathaven and the Memorial Kirk in Drumclog (click here for more information).

Through this “pulpit exchange,” all three of the congregations will get to hear the Word proclaimed in a new voice, make new friends from “across the pond,” and celebrate our common theological heritage in the Reformed tradition. Each week, Rev. Bynum will be sharing his experience in the Scottish parishes through videos and social media.

Stay tuned for more information on this exciting cultural exchange!

"ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING"

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR

PC USA HUNGER, DISASTER, & DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God's love with our neighbors in need around the world.

In a world of disaster, hunger, and oppression, millions of people lack access to

sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.

One Great Hour of Sharing is the single largest way that Presbyterians come together every year to work for a better world. Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing helps improve the lives of the suffering and the vulnerable through three life-saving programs:

  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance- Restore streets to live in.
  • Presbyterian Hunger Programs-Share your Bread with the Hungry.
  • Self-Development of People-Loose the Bonds of Injustice

All three programs work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in

need from initial disaster response to ongoing community development. Their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Traditionally received during the season of Lent, each gift to OGHS helps to improve

the lives of people in these challenging situations. The Offering provides us a way

to share God's love with our neighbors in need.

Donations to OGHS can be made by using the blue envelopes in the church pews (in the coming weeks), or, by sending LAC's Bookkeeper, Gloria Haq, a check, or by using Realm.

Thank you.

Easter Sunday Flower Cross

Last year, Larchmont Avenue Church started a new Easter tradition, inviting the congregation and public to add flowers and greenery to our Flower Cross on Easter Sunday.

Built of wood and wire mesh, the cross will once again be situated outside of our sanctuary near the Larchmont Avenue entrance. As Easter worshipers enter the church, all are invited to place a cut flower or greenery somewhere on the cross. So, if possible, please remember to bring a small floral offering from your household (or pick up a few flowers at a local market). [Note that a limited supply will also be provided at the foot of the cross.] As the structure gradually fills with color and life, it will grow into a beautiful and inspiring symbol of the faith, hope, and love of Easter Sunday -- a witness that stands proud and proclaims the triumph of God's goodness and grace to all who pass.

Help us share our Easter joy with our community!

Add your simple gifts to the Flower Cross.

LAC'S ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE...

An annual tradition with BIG IMPACT...

Proceeds make a difference

Each year the Rummage Sale's proceeds are distributed via grant awards to our LAC mission partners...

Neighbors for Refugees (NFR) is an all-volunteer organization which relies on funds from LAC to support their work protecting vetted, legal newcomers to the US, enabling them to keep their families intact and thrive in our community. NFR’s work is increasingly important as immigration policies and enforcement have created more challenges and risks for hard-working immigrants.

Please start spring cleaning and set aside items for donation to the Rummage Sale -- every treasure results in a sale and every dollar raised makes a difference!

Donation dates and times are detailed below.

Saturday 4/18: 10 AM-Noon

Sunday 4/19: Noon-4 PM

Monday 4/20 10 AM-Noon

Tuesday 4/21 9 AM-Noon

The sale itself begins on Thursday 4/23 at 4 PM!
