In Our Prayers

We share in the joy and offer our congratulations to Andrew Wong and Woori Bae on the arrival of their daughter, Hana Lily Wong, who was born on April 7th. Proud grandparents are Ernest and Judith Wong. Blessings to all!

Lori Godwin asks for prayers for her childhood friend Ann, whose husband Mike, recently died after a difficult battle with cancer. May God's peace and comfort surround the family.

Lori also asks that we resume prayers for Harry, the son of her friend Jane, who is back in the hospital. May the healing touch of the Great Physician grant him a quick and lasting recovery.

The congregation offers its prayers for peace and strength for Adriana Forney.

Rev. Bynum is grateful for the prayers for his friend John Horn, who has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer. May the treatment he is receiving be successful, and may he be lifted by the love and support of his family and friends.

Do you have a prayer request to share with our LAC community? Call our prayer line at (914) 834-1800, ext. 342.

Oh, What a Week!

On Thursday, April 3rd, we marked our third installment of SEEKERS. Andrea Markowitz, LCSW and Program Director at Cancer Support Community Greater NY & CT (at Gilda's Place), spoke about the need for "Caring for the Caregiver." Beyond providing insight and guidance, Andrea presided over a robust question-and-answer discussion.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt

The inclement weather did not stop the Easter Egg Hunt festivities on Saturday, April 5th! Moved safely inside, the children and adults alike enjoyed the egg hunt, crafts, and treats.

And, then, on Sunday, April 6th, LAC marked the beginning Earth Month with a Family Planting Day to complete the second phase of the Native Planting and Pollinator Garden. Thank you to everyone who attended on such an iffy weather day, too! If you are interested in contributing to support the upkeep of the Garden and Eco Task Force projects, please click the link below and select "Eco Task Force Projects" from the fund pulldown menu.

A New Tradition Begins for Easter Sunday

This Easter Sunday we will be trying something new -- a new tradition that we hope you and your family will come to cherish.

For the duration of Easter morning, an “Easter Flower Cross” made of wood and wire mesh will be placed outside of our sanctuary near the Larchmont Avenue entrance. As people enter the church, all of our worshipers – the old and the young, the tall and the small – are invited to place a cut flower somewhere on the cross.

We hope that many of you will take a moment to cut some flowers from your yard on the way out the door (or purchase a small batch at Trader Joe's or the grocery) and bring them with you on Easter Sunday as a special offering.

Do not worry – if you forget, we will have some available in a receptacle near the cross. Through this shared offering of love and hope, we will be able to see, before our eyes, a bare symbol of grief and death be transformed into a beautiful arrangement of beauty, resurrection, and hope. That is, after all, what Easter is all about.

We look forward to sharing this special blessing of the Easter season with all of you, and to seeing some of your beautiful family photos!
