In Our Prayers
We are saddened to share that the family of longtime member George Babakian informed us this week of George's passing earlier this month. Details of a memorial service, which is likely to be later in the summer, have not yet been determined. George was a member of LAC for 62 years.
Lori Godwin asks for prayers:
-
for Becky, the niece of her friend Donna Friedel. Becky is having surgery for colon cancer;
-
for Becky's father Stephen, who is scheduled for surgery to relieve his Parkinsons;
-
for the children of John Stockler, who recently lost their father to a battle with multiple myeloma; and
-
for Harry, the son of her friend Jane, who is back in the hospital.
The congregation offers its prayers for peace and strength for Adriana Forney.
The prayers for Rev. Bynum's friend John Horn are working! His tumor is responding to chemo. We pray for continued success in his battle with esophageal cancer.

A New Tradition Begins for Easter Sunday
This Easter Sunday we will be trying something new -- a new tradition that we hope you and your family will come to cherish.
For the duration of Easter morning, an “Easter Flower Cross” made of wood and wire mesh will be placed outside of our sanctuary near the Larchmont Avenue entrance. As people enter the church, all of our worshipers – the old and the young, the tall and the small – are invited to place a cut flower somewhere on the cross.
We hope that many of you will take a moment to cut some flowers from your yard on the way out the door (or purchase a small batch at Trader Joe's or the grocery) and bring them with you on Easter Sunday as a special offering. [Do not worry – if you forget, we will have some available in a receptacle near the cross.]
Through this shared offering of love and hope, we will be able to see, before our eyes, a bare symbol of grief and death be transformed into a beautiful arrangement of beauty, resurrection, and hope. That is, after all, what Easter is all about.
We look forward to sharing this special blessing of the Easter season with all of you, and to seeing some of your beautiful family photos!
