"The Plumb Line and the City," Clark Fitzgerald (2010)

FIFTH SUNDAY AFTER PENTECOST

July 13, 2025

This Sunday Rev. Dr. Peter Bynum will preach a sermon entitled

"Telling It Straight"

based on Amos 7:7-17.

Join us in worship at 10 am in person or via livestream

on Facebook, YouTube, or our Livestream page.

In Our Prayers

  • Our prayers continue for all who are grieving unimaginable losses from the devastating flood in Texas. We also pray for other areas of the country (including Chapel Hill and Durham in NC) that are suffering increasingly dangerous impacts from unusually intense weather patterns. May we, as people of faith, commit ourselves to understanding why our climate is changing and to taking reasonable steps to protect our families and our planet.

  • Terri Campion asks that the congregation join her in praying for her friend Marc Castle and his partner, Tom Keegan. Tom has recently been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

  • Lori Godwin asks for prayers for:
  • Matt Miller, her cousin who has fallen ill while serving as an engineer on a commercial vessel at sea; and
  • Harry, the son of her friend Jane, who continues to battle significant health issues.

CALLING ALL VOLUNTEERS!

This August,

Compassion Camp 2025: Changing the World with Loving-Kindness is just around the corner with a record 42 campers!

We need YOU to help make it the best week of the summer!

Whether you're a master of crafts, a snack-time superstar, a game guru, or just someone who loves seeing kids grow in faith, joy, and compassion, there's a place for you here. There is no advanced preparation, and you can help as little or as much as your schedule allows - a few hours, just one day, or more -- please join us!

What we love the most about LAC is the love that you all have for its children, so together let’s continue to live out our promise to be active participants in building a community where children are nurtured and loved!

If you have any questions, please contact Anna Grace Claunch (agclaunch@lacny.org).

You can sign up to volunteer by clicking the link below.

Liturgists

Volunteer to be a reader in a worship service. The text for the Prayer for Illumination and the scripture reading is provided to you in advance.

LAC Food Connection

Could you prepare a meal for a member of our congregation in need? The LAC Food Connection, under the auspices of the Deacons, provides occasional meals for our members who might have surgery or something that prevents them from cooking themselves. Please contact lacoffice@lacny.org to offer your help. We will add you to our list of volunteers.

August is a difficult time to muster volunteers. Midnight Run is seeking the following volunteers:

  • One adult driver to meet us at the church at 8:15Pm to bring supplies to NYC. This is a great activity for a parent and teen.
  • Four or five teen volunteers to travel to NYC
  • One volunteer to make 1.5 gallons of pasta salad.
  • Two families to each make10 lunches.

Contact Jim Hanley @ (Mobile) 914-588-3648 for further details or to sign up.
