Sunday,

January 25, 2026

This Sunday

Rev. Dr. Peter Bynum

will preach a sermon titled

"Glorious Nobodies"

based on Psalm 8.

We will also ordain and install new elders, deacons, and trustees.

Join us in worship at 10 am in person or on Facebook, YouTube,

or our Livestream page.

As you know, the weather forecast for this weekend is predicting significant snow and ice in our area. We are currently preparing for Sunday's planned activities (including the 9 am session meeting, the ordination and installation of officers, and the Annual Meetings at the end of worship) to proceed as scheduled. HOWEVER, we will be watching conditions carefully and will make a final decision about cancellation either Saturday night or early Sunday morning. Please be on the lookout for that message.

Even if worship proceeds, we encourage all to be safe. God will certainly understand if you feel that travel to the church is risky or unwise.

Notice of Annual Meetings

On January 25, 2026, at the end of the worship service, the Annual Meeting of the Congregation of the Larchmont Avenue Church, as well as the annual meeting of the Larchmont Avenue Church Corporation, will be called to order. The agenda for the congregational meeting will include, among other things, receipt of the 2025 Annual Report and the 2026 budget, as well as reviewing the updated pastoral terms of call.

In Our Prayers

  • Robin Hruska asks that the congregation join her in prayer for Sean Neukom, a family friend who continues to recover from a stroke and meningitis.

  • Our prayers are with Lori Godwin’s friend Mark, who is mourning the death of his wife Sydney after a long battle with ALS. We pray for all whose lives are touched by ALS, offering strength for today and hope for what is yet to come.

  • We pray an individual who has asked for peace in her family. May the fruits of the Spirit -- love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control -- be felt in their home and in their hearts.

2026 DR Mission Trip

In less than a month, LAC will be in the Dominican Republic with Bridges to Community building a safe, sturdy, and lasting home for a local family. This year 18 of our members have signed up to go--the largest group from LAC to participate in a service trip! We are grateful to have the opportunity to serve in practical, hands-on-ways and to be the church beyond our walls. This trip is about more than construction—it’s about connection, compassion, and showing up for our neighbors in real ways.

Please join us on February 1, following Worship, for a special Pancake Fundraiser Breakfast.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 to cover the entire cost of the building materials needed for our house build. Your support is so important and we cannot do it without you!

If you cannot attend the fundraiser, but would like to donate, you can do so by clicking here and selecting "2026 Mission Trip" from the dropdown menu.

SAVE THE DATE!

The Church & Community Committee is putting together a special Day of Service on Saturday morning, March 7. Members, families, and friends of LAC are invited to gather in Russell Hall for a light breakfast before heading out to complete an array of hands-on projects to support our Mission Partners and assist our neighbors in need.
