First Sunday of Advent

This Sunday

Rev. Anna Grace Claunch

will preach a sermon entitled

“Small Gifts, Holy Growth”

 based on Isaiah 11:1-10.

Join us in worship at 10 am in person or on Facebook, YouTube, or our Livestream page.

In Our Prayers

  • Our prayers are with our church secretary Betty Roodal, whose mother died this week in Trinidad at the age of 91. May her family be surrounded by God's peace and comfort.
  • We pray for Lori Godwin's brother-in-law Vic, who suffered a heart attack this week.
  • We pray for all those who are traveling to be with family and friends this week. May God's mercies follow you on the road.
  • We pray for happy, healthy, and peaceful tables this week. May the ties that bind us be stronger than the things that pull us apart. For our many blessings, Lord, make us truly thankful.

JOIN LAC IN SHARING HOLIDAY CHEER

Help LAC bring Christmas cheer to our neighbors in need and share the hope and joy that Christmas promises.

The LAC Christmas Basket program is a long-time LAC tradition and a wonderful opportunity for our congregation to provide to those in need and celebrate the spirit of giving.

We are looking for LAC members to provide wrapped Christmas gifts (based on wish lists) and grocery gift cards for families identified by our Mission Partner the CRC (Community Resource Center). Each family will also receive a gift basket filled with Christmas goodies.

There are two ways you can help:

1.  Purchase and wrap gifts by Dec 12 listed on a family wish list LAC Xmas Fund Wishlist

2. Donate funds.  The C&C committee will use monetary donations to purchase holiday treats, hats, scarves, small games, body lotion, and food gift cards to fill a basket for each family. Donations can be made on the LAC website by selecting Christmas Basket Fund in the dropdown menu on the giving page, or by mailing a check to LAC with Christmas Basket Fund on the memo line.

In the event of surplus funds, we will direct them towards the youth group Bridges to Community service trip this coming February.

We have been overwhelmed by your generosity in the past and have faith that it will continue this year as well.

We hope you’ll agree that this is an opportunity to share our Christmas bounty!

Thank you!

Church & Community Committee

Special Christmas Bell Choir

Do you want to uplift our Christmas Family Worship at 5 PM in a special way? Consider joining our handbell choir -- a lovely LAC tradition poised for a comeback.

We need at least four people to commit to these rehearsal dates: Thursdays, December 4, 11, 18, from 7-8 pm in room 201. Wednesday, December 24 from 4pm.

Musical offering will be featured during the 5 PM Christmas Eve Worship Service.

No experience is necessary. Instruction will be provided. The bells require special handling, so while young people are invited to join 6th grade and above, we ask that all who elect to participate will treat the bells and the process with respect.

Ability to read music, even at a rudimentary level, is a bonus, but not required! It is important, though, to commit to all three rehearsals!

CONTACT Dkostner@lacny.org if you are interested.
