Protected Nearly 3,000 Acres
Since 1992, WCLC has protected nearly 3,000 acres of environmentally significant land in Waukesha County. With the 141 acres we protected this year alone, we are well on our way to achieving our strategic goal of protecting 4,000 acres by 2022.

Restoring 149 Acres of Rare Oak Ecosystems
We performed 149 acres of restorative brush control across eight of our high-priority preserves, preparing them for important prescribed burns over the next year. Prescribed burns are a safe, effective conservation technique that is used to restore healthy oak ecosystems for the 500 insects, birds, and wildlife that depend on them.

Planted 22 Acres of Pollinator Habitat
We planted 22 acres of pollinator habitat across six of our preserves. This will increase populations of pollinators such as monarch butterflies and honey bees, which are necessary for a successful growing season.

Our 200 Invaluable Volunteers and Interns
This year, WCLC has collaborated with over 200 volunteers and interns. Our interns alone have put in a combined 8,000 hours of service over the last three years. Thank you to everyone who has given their time and talent.
This year, we partnered with Ice Age Trail Alliance and the Village of Hartland to steward a globally imperiled oak ecosystem; worked with UWM students to develop land management plans; and collaborated with REI Co-op for a workday.
