Leadership Lakeville – Month 4

Last week was our 4th month of Leadership Lakeville. This month’s class was held at the Water Treatment Facility on Ipava and the class was treated to a delicious lunch courtesy of Legends Club. The Legends clubhouse is a great space for lunch, date night, or to host your next office or private party. If you are a coffee drinker – you HAVE to try their coffee!

Our leadership portion of this month was focused on the importance of health and wellness. Dr. Luke Krynski, Ph.D., founder of Kickback Science, educated us on various options for healthy eating, sleeping, and exercising, and how they can help us function and perform better. Dr. Krynski is a distinguished expert in various realms of health, wellness, medicine, and disease prevention. He has dedicated over ten years to researching the roles of exercise, nutrition, and sleep in disease treatment and prevention. With extensive experience teaching graduate level courses on these subjects, and a passion towards lifestyle-based medicine, Dr. Krynski has been proactive in bridging this gap. He developed “Kickback Science”, centered on providing comprehensive online educational content to empower individuals with the knowledge and practical tools necessary to achieve and maintain optimal health.

For our Lakeville portion - City of Lakeville Utilities Superintendent, Shane Quade, gave us an overview of the Public Works Department and a tour of the Water Treatment Facility – teaching us about the various aspects of the facility and what they do to keep our water clean and safe. In addition, City of Lakeville GIS Manager, Eric Priewe, gave us an overview of our GIS system and various interactive maps – including the real-time snowplow update maps – which came in handy during the snow the following day!

And, another exciting announcement…we informed Pat Arling, our Leadership Lakeville Facilitator, that he is our 2024 Volunteer of the Year! Pat Arling is a long-time chamber supporter and recently retired Bank President at Frandsen Bank. Since his retirement he has become one of the Chamber’s top volunteers! We cannot say enough about the time and talent that Pat has given to us in 2024. He has spoken to numerous groups of middle and high school students through various classroom teachers and has facilitated multiple sessions for the STRIVE high school mentor program through Rotary. In addition, he is volunteering to be our facilitator for our Leadership Lakeville program. He is donating 5 hours of his time every month, for nine months, to

do a short recap of the month prior, help lead the

30-minute opening discussion of the class and participate in all activities. Pat is also working with the Chamber team on a concept for a future fundraiser. Pat has a long history of giving back in our community and is a past President of both the Chamber and the Rotary. He has served on the ISD194 Finance Committee and was the campaign manager for a recent school board campaign.  Congratulations Pat, so well deserved!

You can help us honor Pat at the Annual Dinner on January 30. Click HERE to register!

Chamber shout out just before 2-minute mark!
