Along with conventional surveying support, GEL Solutions provided SUE Services for the NCDOT Rail Division’s Raleigh to Richmond (R2R) S-Line Project. Our SUE investigation was conducted along existing and proposed rail corridors in Warren and Vance Counties in northern North Carolina. Surveys included QL-D records research for approximately 25 miles of project limits spread across two counties, QL-C mapping of all existing utilities while incorporating existing photogrammetry data, as well as QL-B designating and surveying 90,000 linear feet of fiber optic communication lines running along the existing and abandoned rail corridors.
The R2R S-Line Project is a key component of the broader Southeast Corridor, which spans from Florida to Washington, D.C. Once complete, it will rank among the most advanced rail lines in the region, linking major urban centers with a combined population of over 20 million people. GEL is proud to contribute to this transformative step forward in transportation for the southeastern United States.

Safety Progam Update
A safe team is a reliable team. Our clients trust us to complete work with precision, professionalism, and care — and that includes maintaining the highest safety standards throughout every phase of the job. Fewer incidents mean less downtime, reduced liability, and greater peace of mind for everyone involved. As industries evolve, so do the risks. That’s why we continuously evaluate and improve our safety program.
Safety Director, Jeffrey Lippard, who joined our team in 2024, has been instrumental in the monitoring and continual improvements to our safety program and procedures. His attention and focus, which has included regular updates to our Field Safety Manual, managing training records, sharing pertinent safety information, and providing safety related support for our team has helped us to develop an even more robust safety program. We look forward to continued progress in the years to come.
We are proud of our track record, but when it comes to safety, the work is never done. Together with our clients and partners, we’re building safer projects and a stronger future.
| | Secrets Under Milan's Sforza Castle Revealed | |
As part of a Ph.D. thesis, Politecnico di Milano conducted a state-of-the-art technological investigation in partnership with Sforza Castle, with technical support from Codevintec, a leading provider of technology solutions for Earth and Marine Sciences,
Ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and laser scanning were used in the investigation to produce a precise map of the Castle’s subsurface and underground structures. These instruments successfully identified cavities and passageways located approximately one to two feet below the surface. The data revealed numerous underground passages beneath the Castle, located in the area once enclosed by the "Ghirlanda" or outer wall—some of which may correspond to secret military routes depicted in Leonardo's drawings.
