CCTV Pipe Inspection
GEL Solutions offers Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) Inspection services, one of the most efficient methods used to map storm water and sanitary systems, in addition to locating and diagnosing pipe defects. This method produces complex photographic and video imagery of the internal pipeline system. We can accurately locate and identify a vast range of defects and anomalies. Common investigations reveal the pipe material and condition, intrusive foreign materials, blockages and defective repairs. Our mobile crawler inspection system is designed to operate in a variety of environments and is able to investigate pipes as small as six inches in diameter.

Service Highlight
ACCURATE, HIGH-SPEED GPR DATA COLLECTION
GEL Solutions was the first company in North America to acquire and successfully deploy the Raptor®, the newly Federal Communications Commission certified high-speed ground penetrating radar (GPR) array manufactured by Impulse Radar AB in Sweden. This system is the first GPR array to incorporate real-time digital sampling technology that allows the collection of 3D GPR data at posted highway speeds. The advanced digital technology provides increased depth penetration in most soils and a large bandwidth facilitates greater resolution of utilities and other targets. The data is integrated into GEL Solutions’ 3D underground utility mapping software providing our clients with subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and other underground 3D mapping deliverables.

The Raptor ® can be easily deployed and produces accurate and timely data. It is also safer than conventional GPR methods and causes minimal impacts to the traveling public.

The value to GEL Solutions’ customers is clear; providing superior data faster than any other system. This translates into more utilities detected in complex urban and industrial settings than is achievable with conventional SUE tools. The goal is to reduce overall project costs by mitigating unforeseen utility conflicts; and the Raptor®, coupled with GEL Solutions' rigorous approach using all available technology, has been a great benefit to many of our clients on a range of projects.

GSET Safety Heroes
Gas Leak Response During Test Hole Operations
Back in April, Tony Mangum, Marcus Tyndall and Jorden Lawson were digging a test hole near a 4" steel gas line when they noticed very strong "rotten egg-like" odor. They knew immediately that the smell was a sign of a gas leak. They promptly halted their investigation and reported the issue to the gas company. Upon inspection, a major gas leak unrelated to the test hole was detected 10 feet away. Needless to say, this incident could have led to devastating consequences. We applaud our crew for following the proper procedures to keep themselves and others out of harms way.

Defensive Driving on Dangerous Highway Incident
On a rainy day in May, Jason Lowe and Scott Lineberry were on their way to a project site when they observed a truck and trailer weaving erratically all over the highway just ahead of them. The danger was escalated when the driver came to a stop in the left hand lane and exited the vehicle to investigate. Jason quickly turned on the strobe and hazard lights to alert other drivers. The obstruction caused a large semi-truck to lock its brakes and slide sideways toward the scene.  Thankfully though, no one was harmed and our crew was able to warn traffic to allow the vehicle and trailer to be moved off the road. Hats off to our team for being vigilant and alert when faced with yet another life-threatening incident on the roadway.

Subsurface Fun Facts
An underground monumental site has recently been discovered … Near Stonehenge.
Another monumental site has been discovered in England about 2 miles from the world famous Stonehenge site. The finding is described as a massive series of pits estimated to be from the Neolithic-era; placing it within the same time period as Stonehenge and other known sites in the area. The subsurface pit structure surrounds the smaller circular site known as the Durrington Walls and is more than a mile wide! Scientists believe these findings indicate our neolithic ancestors were an extremely complex society. Though, of course, the specifics of this structure's origin and function are a mystery.
