In late September 2024, Hurricane Helene brought catastrophic flooding to the Southern Appalachian region, causing unprecedented damage to communities and transportation infrastructure across western North Carolina. In response, GEL Solutions joined NCDOT and other partners in the relief and rebuilding efforts — a mission that carries special meaning for many of our team members who call the region home.
Just over a year later, meaningful progress continues. According to Governor Josh Stein, nearly all state-maintained roads have reopened, critical water systems have been restored, and major corridors are steadily returning to service as state and federal investments support long-term recovery and resilience efforts.
GEL Solutions remains proud to support NCDOT as rebuilding continues. The work ahead is substantial, but the dedication shown by agencies, communities, and industry partners reflects the strength and resilience of western North Carolina.
