American Institute of Architects Louisiana (AIA LA) Partners with The Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) to Receive $4.7 Million in U.S. Department of Energy Awards

American Institute of Architects Louisiana is pleased to announce its collaboration with Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance (SEEA) in securing grant award(s) from the U.S. Department of Energy, totaling $160,000; the largest financial grant the organization has received to date. This award aims to support the development of healthier, more efficient buildings in Louisiana as well as educate and prepare the workforce to handle such. The partnerships formed between AIA Louisiana and SEEA, along with other key collaborators including the Louisiana Office of the State Fire Marshal, Louisiana Department of Natural Resources, Green Coast Enterprises, University of Louisiana-Lafayette, and the International Code Council, are dedicated to advancing energy-efficient practices and promoting sustainable building designs across Louisiana.

The awarded projects and programming will focus on providing comprehensive training and technical assistance to the design, construction, and general building energy workforce in Louisiana. This initiative is designed to educate professionals about the latest residential and commercial energy code updates, equipping them with the knowledge and skills required to implement cutting-edge, energy-efficient solutions in their projects.

As an organization that has been representing the professional interests of America's architects since 1857, AIA Louisiana is committed to advancing design practices and promoting livable communities throughout the state. With over 1200 licensed architects, emerging professionals, and affiliated partners as members, AIA LA continuously strives to uphold the highest standards of professional practice. Members of the AIA adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional conduct, underscoring their unwavering dedication to providing top-tier services to clients, the public, and communities across the state.

Through this strategic partnership and the generous funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, AIA Louisiana members and its collaborators will have a profound impact on the way buildings are designed, constructed, and operated in Louisiana, leading to reduced energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and enhanced overall building performance.

Ways to get more involved:

  • Do you have a particular interest in public policy and advocating for the profession? Sign-up to be a part of AIA Louisiana’s Advocacy Advisory Circle. A new member benefit and part of the Advocacy Committee’s outreach, the AAC will provide additional engagement opportunities such as offering insight and reflection on legislation affecting the profession as well as opportunities to advocate and learn more. (This is "more involved than the current member experience, and less involved than actually serving on the committee").
  • Do you have another passion? Check out the Committee’s landing page for descriptions and email the office to check for opportunities.
