Hundreds of scholarships are at your fingertips

The Oklahoma City Community Foundation's New Opportunities Scholars program offers a $2,000 award to central Oklahoma high school students who will be the first in their family to attend college.

Students must apply during their junior year of high school. Applications are due by Mar. 1, 2017. Selected recipients of the New Opportunities Scholar award will be required to complete a series of college preparatory activities before graduating high school.

The OCCF website contains hundreds of other scholarships for which ASTEC juniors and seniors may apply. For a full list of scholarships and their requirements, click here

Congratulations to the Superintendent's and Headmaster's Honor Roll students! These students soared academically for the first semester (high school) and second nine-weeks (middle school). Keep up the great work, Comets!

A few friendly reminders
  Outfit an ASTEC
Does your closet need a little more space? You can help yourself, the environment and a deserving ASTEC Junior or Senior girl by donating your gently-used prom dresses to the ASTEC prom dress project.

Bring your donated prom dresses to the ASTEC Central Office in suite 39A.
Be a yearbook angel or advertiser!
What's one of the best ways to remember your high school days? Thumbing through your yearbook, of course! But not every student can afford this precious memento of their high school days.

Yearbooks are $50. If you'd like to sponsor a yearbook for a student, you can pay it at once, or spread payments over the next few months, we're here to help you.

To buy a yearbook,  see Business Manager Mimi Nguyen, Editor-in-Chief Abraham Mendieta, or Yearbook Advisor Mr. Perkins.

Another great way to help the ASTEC yearbook effort is to buy an ad! This year, we are offering banner ads for a mere $100 each.

Your ad can serve dual purposes: bringing exposure to your business while helping the yearbook staff keep publication costs under control.

Contact Mr. Perkins for advertising information.
A delicious event: Art & Chocolate

ASTEC Charter Schools' Annual Art & Chocolate Festival is set for 6 p.m. March 3.

The event will feature chocolate delights created by ASTEC student clubs and groups, a student art show and sale, and a silent auction with a bevy of beautiful gift baskets prepared and provided by student, faculty and staff groups and ASTEC's friends in the community.

Ticket sales will benefit ASTEC's Social Studies department. Art and auction sales will benefit ASTEC's Art Club. Artists will also keep a portion of the proceeds from each piece of art sold!

This year's Art & Chocolate festival also will have a very special local sponsor we will announce soon! More information about this event to come
