The City of Windsor's Earth Day Committee would like to welcome you to the very first virtual Earth Day from April 12-25! Since they’re unable to host a physical event this year, the city has teamed up with GooseChase to present a virtual Earth Day scavenger hunt.
Complete over 50 environmental missions! Submit videos, take photos, find clues, check-in at locations, solve puzzles and riddles, including missions assigned from the DRCC! It’s as easy as downloading the app, logging into GooseChase and joining the game – “Windsor-Essex Virtual Earth Day 2021!"

12th Annual Film Screening
|
|
DRCC hosted its 12th annual film screening virtually by screening the film Ecohighway in March. Ecohighway is a documentary featuring actions, challenges, and lessons learned in protecting species at risk in the construction of the Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway in Windsor. The film was followed by a panel discussion with biologists who assisted in the protection of species at risk during the construction of the Parkway, including Dan Lebedyk, Biologist/Ecologist at the Essex Region Conservation Authority, Dr. Season Snyder, Ecologist, at Wood Environment and Infrastructure, and Russ Jones, who was the Lead Field Biologist during Parkway construction. Update from the DRCC's Public Advisory Council

The Public Advisory Council (PAC) of the Detroit River Canadian Cleanup (DRCC) is an independent branch of the DRCC representing the public. Volunteers and environment groups including the ECFNC, Little River Enhancement Group, Citizens Environment Alliance and others have held membership since the PAC started in 2004. Meetings are open to the public and scheduled when issues arise. Learn more about what the PAC has been up to here.

Explore the park on your own after dark and experience the dark skies of Point Pelee. You will have the opportunity to stay late and see what goes on after dark. Note that there are no formal programs on these evenings. Visitors can pick up a seasonal star chart at the gate upon arrival. The park is open until midnight, unless otherwise stated.

Windsor Sportsmen's Club Fishing Derby

The 63rd annual Windsor Sportsmen's Club 63rd Kids, Cops and Canadian Tire fishing derby will be hosted on Saturday May 29 2021. This derby is open to kids 12 and under at Reaume and Dieppe Parks in Windsor along the Detroit River. The event is rain or shine and runs from 8:00 am to 11:30 am. There are lots of prizes to be won and all are invited for the award ceremony and a light lunch at the club afterwards! The DRCC will be there with a river display and will be interviewing anglers about fish consumption!

Our goal is to remove the Detroit River from the list of Great Lakes Areas of Concern.
