Alumni Testimonial

Jenny Y. HRC Alum 2023

After five decades of productive and fulfilling living, I was determined to then make alcohol my eraser of the darker side of my recent life. For almost 24 months, what I’d hoped to erase only became a daunting monster who coerced and oppressed me to powerlessness. What grief, pain, loneliness, disappointment, abandonment, and fear I tried to bury only exacerbated into isolation, insecurity, self-loathing, overwhelm, and self-harm. I lost my well-living, my best friend, my marriage, financial security, trust, serenity, and self-love.

After two years of sliding and desperation, I determined to immerse myself in recovery. I chose to believe “recovery” meant I could possibly regain what I’d lost, even if that meant I had to go all the way back to my true essence at birth. I thank the God of my understanding each day for my having found Harmony Recovery Center. Touched, lifted and transformed by staff, therapeutic facilitators, counselors, and the many peer cohorts throughout the program, I will forever feel grateful. I committed to putting in the work, opened my heart and mind, and found what true recovery offers – health, home, purpose and community.

Best in health,

 Jenny

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

The pandemic has brought about a silver lining in the form of a transformative shift in the global attitude toward mental health. A growing number of individuals are now seeking help for mental health disorders. We at Harmony are committed to meeting this demand by providing primary mental health treatment at all our locations.

In recognition of the remarkable progress made by our alumni in achieving mental wellness, our Alumni Care Team has organized a series of weekly events to be held throughout the month of May in South Florida. Please call Lexi Cunningham @ 973-476-1191 if you would like to get involved.

The Alumni Program is Live in Tennessee

Outreach, Alumni, and Clinical in Tennessee

We are thrilled to announce that our Alumni Program has been successfully launched in Tennessee. We have worked closely with our alumni to understand your needs, and we are committed to providing the necessary resources and support to help you on your journey to recovery and well-being.

Brent Crass, Former Group Facilitator at Harmony in Chattanooga, has stepped into our first Alumni & Family Liaison position. This vital role brings our alumni program to life in each region by having a person on the premises to serve our alumni and their families. In addition, we will be having a weekly in-person support group at the center, events, fellowship, fun, and so much more. We embrace Accountability, Belonging, and Connection.

The Alumni Initiative will be expanding on a quarterly basis, following its successful full implementation in TN. In Q3, we will introduce the program to two additional sites, with the remaining locations set to launch in Q4 of 2023. Our goal is to have a fully functional Alumni Care wrap-around service, for you, our alumni, in effect by the end of this year.

Brent is originally from a small town outside of Knoxville, TN, but has just recently moved back to the area. Before coming to Harmony, he worked for a domestic violence intervention program in Nebraska. He loves connecting with clients, helping them progress in their journey, and seeing them connect and support each other. He holds two degrees from Liberty University. In his free time, he’s an avid reader, amateur coffee roaster, and die-hard sports fan. He is involved in his church, and more than anything else, he enjoys spending time with his family.
