Curbside Collection Calendar 

Annual Water Main Flushing 

Public Works will be conducting routine fire hydrant maintenance and waterline flushing during April. No chemicals are used during the process and the quality of your drinking water is not affected. Beware, however, that your tap water may be discoloured so we recommend your laundry times are limited to evenings or the weekends during this period.

Stage 1 Watering Restrictions: Effective April 1^st

Under Stage 1 watering restrictions, sprinkling is permitted on any day between the hours of 7:00 pm-7:00 am. Sprinkling includes watering lawns, ornamental shrubs, flowers and trees and use of pop-up spray, rotors and sprinklers. Putting in a new lawn? Apply for a new lawn watering permit by visiting Municipal Hall or emailing district@lantzville.ca. The following are permitted at any time in Stage 1: hand-watering, drip irrigation, and micro irrigation; washing vehicles, boats, and houses (siding) if using a hose with a shutoff device; filling fountains, pools, or hot tubs; pressure washing walkways, driveways and siding. Vegetable gardens and fruit trees are exempt from all watering restrictions but watering in the early morning or in the evening is recommended as there is less evaporation. Private wells are not subject to municipal watering restrictions, but conservation is encouraged because water is a shared resource.

Cut the Broom When It Is Blooming!

The District of Lantzville has partnered with the Broombusters Invasive Plant Society again this year to assist in controlling the alien invasive Scotch broom plant in our community. Help protect our environment from this invasive plant and enjoy some time with fellow residents. The first cut of the season is scheduled for: Harwood Drive (between Spence’s Way and the Foothills bridge), Saturday, April 27^th, 9:30 am-11:30 am. More cuts will be added as the blooming season progresses. Watch for signs in your neighbourhood and weekly on-line postings. Cuts are held rain or shine - loppers are provided! Accessibility Advisory Committee

The District of Lantzville is now accepting applications for ONE (1) volunteer member at-large to serve on the Accessibility Advisory Statutory Committee for a term expiring December 31, 2024. The purpose of the Accessibility Advisory Statutory Committee is to support accessibility planning in Lantzville. Short-Term Rentals (AirBnB, VRBO, etc.)

A short-term rental is permitted in most residential zones in the District of Lantzville as a home-based business. Check the zoning of any property you are considering, to confirm if a Home Business is a permitted use. Please see Section 2.2 of the Zoning Bylaw 180, 2020.

Short-term rental regulations include:

• property owner must reside on the property on which a short-term rental is taking place.
• must not be operated on the same property on which a bed and breakfast is being operated.
• must not be operated in a dwelling unit that contains more than three sleeping units.
• maximum number of guests in a short-term rental at any given time is six.
• a Lantzville Business Licence Application is required to be completed.
• may be a secondary suite provided the owner of the property lives in the primary dwelling on the same parcel.

Temporary Superior Road Closure

On Saturday, April 6^th from 11:45 am until 2:30 pm, Superior Road will be closed to all traffic except for the residents in the affected area from Lantzville Road to the Island Hwy. During this temporary closure:

• Lantzville Fire Rescue, along with its automatic aid partners, will be conducting a certification test for the Superior Tender Shuttle Service accreditation.
• This test will take place at the Lantzville Fire Hall at 7580 Superior Road
• Water tenders will be moving water along Island Hwy 19, Lantzville Road and Superior Road
• There will be flag people at some of the fill locations along Lantzville Road to control traffic while the tenders are using the fire hydrants.
