Hello
CDN Update

I hope you had a lovely Spring break.

We received an incredible response to the CDN Workforce Survey with over 1,800 submissions – thank you to every colleague across the sector who completed it. The purpose of the survey is to identify the future learning requirements of the college workforce, and crucially how college staff want to learn. The answers will inform the design of professional learning, and the service we offer to you, into the future. Watch this space to discover the outputs from the survey.

At the end of last month, we launched the highly-anticipated Virtual College Expo22 programme. With a wide range of interactive sessions and activities, Virtual College Expo22 promises to be an incredible two days and the very best yet! Find out more below.

We continue to offer a wide range of impactful Courses, Events and Research to support your professional development. Take a moment and have a look at what's on offer below and on CDN’s website.

As ever, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you’d like to talk about any aspect of our work, if you'd like to suggest new ways that we can support you, or share experiences and great practice that colleagues in the sector would find useful. You can email me at: [email protected]

Its purpose is to enhance practice across our colleges and develop the action research skills of college staff. Enhancing learning together is our guiding principle.

Working together, as a sector, as a system, is at the heart of the programme and we will be supporting projects that bring together teams, colleges and partners right across Scotland and beyond.

The first cohort starts in September and aims to support you to lead with confidence, and to take the next step in your career.

The Programmes include:

Emerging Leadership Programme

This course is designed for practising or aspiring managers and leaders. The primary role of a practising or aspiring manager and leader is to lead and manage individuals and teams to deliver aims and objectives in line with organisational strategy.

Strategic Leadership Programme

This course is designed for senior managers and aspiring senior managers who have, or aim to have the authority and personal inspiration to translate organisational strategy into effective operational performance. The qualification requires managers to build on their strategic management and leadership skills and to focus on the requirements of implementing the organisation’s strategy.

Adult Learning Strategy for Scotland –
Launch Events

The new Scottish Government Adult Learning Strategy will be launched over two days in May, with an in-person event taking place on 10 May at Newbattle Abbey College and a virtual event on 11 May.

The Strategy’s vision is that adult learning in Scotland will develop better skilled, educated, confident and empowered people contributing to connected and inclusive communities.

The launch will focus on how we can collectively achieve this aim by exploring the themes and actions within the strategy’s strategic action plan.
