AVPD Recertification for Adopting

Collaborative Board Standards

The State of Ohio Collaborative was formed in 2015 to create uniform minimum standards for Ohio's law enforcement agencies. The idea was to strengthen credibility and trust between citizens and law enforcement.

Additional standards were later established by the Collaborative to address community engagement, bias-free policing, body-worn cameras, vehicular pursuits, telecommunicator training, employee misconduct, mass protests, agency wellness and interaction with minors. The standards are the first of their kind in Ohio, and further reinforce the original minimum standards in elevating police/community relations.

The State has partnered with the Buckeye State Sheriffs' Association and the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police to help certify Ohio's nearly 900 law enforcement agencies, which also strengthens potential grant applications and increases eligibility for awards and recognitions. Chief Wallace credits Officer Nick Mercer (left) for his leadership role in coordinating the Amberley Village recertification process.

Only Two Spots Remaining for

Forest Bathing Program on April 16!

Forest Bathing is a mindfulness process of experiencing forests and wooded parks, using the 5 senses to benefit physical and mental health. Substantial scientific research has demonstrated that the benefits are sustained when practiced regularly. No worries - no actual bathing is involved!

Participants will deepen their appreciation and understanding of the importance of trees to our health and survival. The participants will develop the skills and motivation to take a Forest Bathing walk on their own!

Our Guide is Amberley Village resident Joyce DeVoge, who received a level one certification in the Ecotherapy practices that are essentially identical to the original Forest Bathing methods developed in Japan, referred to as shinrin-yoku. Joyce is a professional counselor with a practice in the Cincinnati area.

The program will be held rain or shine. Upon registration, participants will receive meeting location and background reading information.

Drug Takeback Day Returns 4/22

The next National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will be Saturday,April 22, 2023. National Take Back Day is a safe, convenient, and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription drugs.

Amberley Village will participate from 10 – 2 p.m., allowing residents and neighbors to drop off unused or expired prescriptions. Please note that unused prescriptions must be removed from prescription bottles and placed in plastic zip-lock bags before they can be accepted.

The DEA will also accept vaping devices and cartridges at any of its drop-off locations during Take Back Day. It is important to note that DEA cannot accept devices containing lithium-ion batteries. If batteries cannot be removed prior to drop-off, DEA encourages individuals to consult with stores that recycle lithium-ion batteries.

Check DEA’s official Take Back Day website below for more information. Amberley Village is a year-round collection site.

Reporting Service Issues with Rumpke

Reporting issues with Rumpke pickup to the Village Administration can assist in faster resolution and helps us better serve our residents.

Amberley Village works closely with Rumpke and our residents to ensure regular, reliable pickup for trash and recycling services. However, there are times when pickup services are missed or homes are unintentionally skipped.

While this is definitely the exception rather than the rule, we have received an increase in reports of missed pickups. This is largely due to workforce challenges that often result in changes to regular route drivers.

If you experience a lapse in service, please contact Carolyn Wallis in the Administration Office at 513-531-8675, or cwallis@amberleyvillage.org. Carolyn tracks service requests and works to assist residents in resolving any issues with Rumpke services, and can often expedite resolution to your issue. While we hope it never happens to you, please take a moment to let us know if your trash or recycling has not been picked up.

Amberley Village is committed to keeping lines of communication open and accessible between residents and government officials. In this spirit, Amberley Village has incorporated Village-issued email addresses for Councilmembers into its digital communications protocol.

These measures unify the format, making it easier for residents to send a message when an issue comes to mind. The member's first initial followed by last name (no space) @amberleyvillage.org will get your message on its way to members of the Amberley Village Council.
