The Friends of Chabot College:
Response to COVID-19
Emergency Student Aid Appeal
|
|
Thank you
to everyone who has donated to The Friends of Chabot College's Emergency Student Aid Fund, thus far! We are fortunate to be part of such a giving community and truly appreciate the outpouring of support we have already received.
We still need help reaching our goal. If you have not yet had a chance to support the Emergency Student Aid Fund, here are ways you can help.
|
With the many changes presented by the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and call to shelter-in-place, we are looking for your support to
help Chabot College students most severely impacted by this challenging time.
Students are having to navigate:
- Losing their hourly/service industry jobs or having significant hours cut.
- Taking their courses remotely, while already facing technology access issues.
- Juggling taking care of kids at home from school while adjusting to learning remotely.
- Paying for basic needs (i.e. food, utilities, rent).
For many students living paycheck-to-paycheck, facing one, if not all of these challenges can be detrimental. Despite these challenges, students are finding so many ways to selflessly contribute to others in need.

Chabot Students Supporting FREE COVID-19 Testing
Chabot College's Fire Academy is volunteering to help at the COVID-19 testing site in front of Hayward Fire Station 7. This is an important service to help first responders and community members, and we thank our students - and all those working the front lines - for meeting this call.

- $9.99/month pays for a Wi-Fi internet subscription.
- Basic needs, such as food and living expenses.
|
Donate Laptops
We are looking for laptop donations. Once received, the District's Information Technology Services will scrub the device before distributing to a student. About 1,600 laptops are needed to support students with emerging needs.
If you are interested in donating, please email The Friends of Chabot College.
