A Queen's Narrative

About Us

Hello Samantha,

Public health, as defined by the American Public Health Association (APHA), is the "science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities" (APHA). It involves organized efforts by society, organizations, communities, and individuals to prevent disease, promote health, and prolong life. Community health, closely related to public health, focuses on specific populations within society, addressing their unique health needs and challenges based on factors like demographics and social determinants of health. Both public and community health emphasize collaboration among stakeholders to achieve better health outcomes for all, as outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (CDC, 2012). “Public health is a powerful tool to level that playing field, to bend the arc of our country away from distrust and disparities and back towards equity and justice.”

"Birth of an Artist" Youth Program Launch

This month marks the beginning of our youth program, and we couldn't be more thrilled. We started off with a fantastic group of young queens eager to delve into our series. Our kick-off event at the Dunbar Center, focused on establishing community agreements and engaging in "get to know you" activities. We deeply appreciate the support of our parents in entrusting us with their children's hearts and minds. Our “Birth of an Artist” series is facilitated in collaboration with ”Artoonist”,Kahli Hernandez.

The objective of our youth development program is to nurture the skills and talents of our young queens, with the ultimate aim of hosting a youth showcase that highlights their growth and achievements throughout the sessions.

For the Love of Springfield Grant Awardee

A Queen's Narrative is honored to be among the 11 award-winning organizations chosen to receive funding to expand our "Birth of an Artist" youth series for girls aged 12-18 in our community. The For the Love of Springfield grant will assist our organization in providing free programs for youth and parents, while fostering collaboration with local artists and creative professionals. At the grant announcement event hosted at the Art for Soul Gallery, our queen Samantha Hamilton has the opportunity to meet and network with several amazing community partners who’s initiatives are designed to heal, uplift, and empower our beloved community. Additional highlights from this event can be found  here

The current program series is a collaboration with Artoonist Kahli Hernandez, whose primary medium growing up was a pencil and computer paper. Over the years, he has utilized his God-given talent to create artwork that stimulates his creative intellect and inspires others. This year's "Birth of an Artist" series is funded by the Youth Mental Health Coalition, Bacon & Wilson Law Firm, and now The Springfield Creative City Collective.

QUEENS AROUND TOWN

Bay Path "Breaking Through" Women's Leadership Conference

It was an unexpected meeting when our queens, Jazmine and Samantha, crossed paths at the Bay Path Women’s Leadership Conference. They seized the chance to snap a photo with Lena, one of your young queens, and Kashawn Sanders, a co-founder of Follow My Steps Foundation Inc. The conference brimmed with inspiration, captivating speakers, and diverse vendors. Samantha was volunteering on this day as an exhibitor for the United Way of Pioneer Valley Dora D. Robinson Women’s Leadership Council. Ladies who came to her table had the opportunity to learn about membership and the council's upcoming networking event.

Networking with Friends

in Real Estate

Take a look at our queen Samantha at the Homes Logic Real Estate networking mixer hosted at Dewey's Lounge. Rubbing shoulders with Freddy Lopez, Luz Lopez, Kyra Rodriguez and Shirley Rodriguez, Samantha seized the chance to mingle and forge connections with agents, investors, buyers, sellers, and industry experts, all while relishing in delectable complimentary appetizers.
