Happy 1st Birthday Outer Banks Forever!

Yes, that’s right – we’re joining all of you March and April babies in celebrating our 1st birthday from home!

I can’t express what your support has meant to us since we officially launched during National Park Week in 2019. You’ve helped elevate your parks in ways beyond what we could have imagined a year ago.

So much has changed since then, but what hasn't changed is that our parks need you now more than ever - and we're committed to continuing our work to enhance and protect your three awesome national parks here in OBX.

Since it’s National Park Week and our birthday, I’m launching a new way for us to connect with each other (party hats encouraged but not required!). It combines the two things that are keeping me going these days: coffee and staying connected with friends.

You’re in luck – to celebrate National Park Week our friends at America’s National Parks® have just released downloadable cancellations for each of your OBX national parks to go with fun virtual activities you can enjoy at home!

Here’s how it works:

Complete the activities listed on our site for each park, download the cancellation image, then you can print it out and add it to your passport.

You can also upload it to your favorite photo sharing site like Facebook or Google Photos and create your own digital passport!

This Saturday: Virtual ParkRx Day

Each day this week celebrates a different theme or aspect of our national parks, and this Saturday has special relevance to us all right now.

Our national parks provide us with space to learn, explore, and most importantly to heal. ParkRx Day this year will celebrate the healing power of our parks – the prescription we all need – even if we can’t physically be in our parks at this moment.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram where we will be sharing photos and videos throughout the day from your OBX national parks so that you can enjoy a touch of serenity and calm no matter where you are in the world.

We're also excited to announce that one of our 2020 projects you can support today is installing webcams in all of your OBX national parks! In partnership with the Outer Banks Visitor's Bureau and Surfline , we will install webcams at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, Wright Brothers Monument, and Waterside Theater at Fort Raleigh so that you can enjoy these calming views anytime, any place. Consider a gift today and make these webcams possible this year.
